I can't speak for everyone, but my experience...it hurt like a son of a b!tch. Went too fast and my ear wasn't ready, ended up ripping the hole a little bit so now I have a bit of scarring inside the hole. Everytime I insert my earring it hurts again.

This only happens when you gauge your ears...aka make the hole bigger. Plus my ears haven't had the time to adjust to the larger earrings yet. I have to take them out each day for work, so the holes never get to get used to the larger ring.
