Well, I believe they have proven that they do deserve some. They are hugely important to the entertainment industry...and of course they should be payed accordingly.
Okay, I do believe they deserve something, but, from what I have heard, they've been offered a deal numerous times but haven't taken it.
Now they've managed to cancel the GG's because of this.
Fact is the jobs they have are dream jobs - people would give anything to be able to write for a popular TV show.
From what I know, they get at least $100 a day - millions of people in the USA don't even make that in a week. $100 for them would go a long way.
It just seems to me that the WGA don't know how good they've got it. It's just selfish of them to demand money when millions of people are worse off. They should be considering themselves lucky that they are in the jobs they are - and I doubt they've even considered the impact it has had on other people, who have lost jobs because of it.

Apparently they are more than worth that money. Yes, they have a dream job of many, but they have that because they are the best. If you could find 12000 great writers on the street there wouldn't be a problem for the companies whatsoever. All the shows we love would be continued and everything would be fine and dandy. But there aren't. Those guys are actually good at their job. And they deserve to be rewarded accordingly. Yes, many people are worse off, but those people don't have the skills to produce value like those writers have. They don't have to write if they think they are not rewarded properly.

As a libertarian I still believe that a government should be in place. I think it should be as small as possible. As of now I would say the only duties of the government would be inner and outer security (military, police), court system, stree infrastructure and ensurance of the free market.
I think taxes should be solely taken through a sales tax...the height of which has to be determined according to the spendings, though I would assume it will hardly exceed 10 percent.
That's about it, really.
