That's not what I said though. I said him threatening the life of people with guns drawn on him was a self-applied death sentence. He doesn't have to actually have the means to kill them to threaten them, he just has to convince them that he does.Everybody knows that if you point a gun at a cop, you get shot. I really don't understand why you're defending this kid. For all we know it was a suicide attempt he just didn't want to have to pull the trigger himself.
I'm not defending the kid... At no point have I said his actions were right or legal... I said that its wrong for the police in this situation to have shot the kid.
If another situation arose where a kid pulled a gun in class, Held 2 kids hostage and pointed his gun at police then I could understand the police taking him down as a last alternative... However here they had the chance to take this one alive, and they failed...
I don't think its right to kill people before they have there time in court. No matter how guilty he might appear on the surface they should try to take him alive...
It could of been a suicide, It could of been a prank gone wrong...
Either way, The police shouldn't of shot him...

I don't think you can apprehend dead people... so by your own definition, They failed...you keep generalising this situation...
They didn't know the gun was fake did they? Nobody has shown us otherwise. They obviously didn't know if the psychotic kid was about to pop a cap in their foreheads.
The kid got what he deserved in conjunction with his actions.

No, he's not generalising... he specifying. In this situation, they did what they had to do.
Hang on.... did you read the story??? The dad phoned them and told them he didn't have one...
The kids brother told them he didn't have a real gun...
The boy who had a mini fight with the kid and got his hands on the gun realised it was a fake....
3 reliable sources told them.... So they were quite clued up on the situation.....

Oh please....PVS posted this before...
http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/01/14/teen.shot/index.html"Nation said Ralph Penley was "angry" because he had spoken to police before he arrived at the school and told them Christopher did not have a real gun. Christopher's younger brother told school officials the same thing, Nation said. "
"One of Penley's classmates said he, too, thought the gun was real -- and that Penley was going to kill him -- until he grabbed the pistol and realized it was fake."
"Penley fled to an isolated alcove area and went into a restroom where he refused to speak with negotiators, the sheriff said."
Why did they end up shooting him?? they had every chance to know it wasn't real... and to top it all off he didn't even have any means of escape or even a hostage.. They could of easily tazered him or gased him...
In light of that post, which I hadn't seen before (I must have missed a page or so), then I do agree that they made the wrong decision, completely. I said multiple times that if that was the case, they were wrong. I had never seen that article so with the current knowledge I had of the case, my opinion was correct.
The other possibility is that the "higher-ups" made the wrong move and didn't inform the cops, which also sucks.
The fact remains that if police feel their lives are in imminent danger, they do have the right to open fire.

Can I use this in my profile??? 😆
Don't worry about it! At least your man woman enough to admit your wrongs! your possition is understandable if the police didn't know he had a fake gun!
