I don't know. I just like how he says it like it is. Paula isn't going to tell some untalented fool they can't sing, whereas Simon will. He's probably the best judge out of the three.

"Paula isn't going to tell some untalented fool they can't sing", why is she a judge then? Bit pointless isn't it?
About Simon; The world standard of what's funny has obviously been dramatically lowered if people think telling the truth and being honest has now become some hilarity breaker. Point being, this:
*Singing* "You're shit". Isn't funny, it's being the Bill Cosby of TV "judges".
"Whoopee! Goin' down the mountain! Zip zop zoopety blop!"
"Hahahaha!"
"That's not funny! That's just saying what happens when you go skiing!"

Right, so why is it funny that he's telling them what we all know? That's his job on that show, to judge who he can use and who he can't.
The others don't do their jobs as well purely so he can stand out. They're not a panel of real judges, they're characters assembled to play a role. If finding people through "talent" shows was the goal, it'd be done on radio.

You never hear the exact same thing come out of his mouth twice. He's brilliantly creative with his insults, if extremely blunt.

Hahaha, drill sergeant. The man resembles the substitute teachers who always think "If I act hard, they'll do what I say", only to be terrorised by the class. The man is pathetic. Whenever anyone does talk back, he gets shown up. His character relies on them thinking "Oh no, Simon! Better not reply!" Drill sergeants would make a woman out of him.
He's not brilliantly creative. It generally consists of "I've never seen/heard..." as prefix and then some lame metaphor.

Dumbest comment ever; "Well if we're going by how everyone sounds..."Yes, that would be the general idea, at least in theory. Although I'm sure if that were the case the show would never exist.
Simon Cowell is a self-parody.
