Ahnold
The Former Governator
Bump! Sorry for bumping this golden oldie, but I just remembered this thread this morning, and thought that you guys might be interested to hear a definitive response to the question:

... that comes straight from the horses' mouth; I say that because I've actually asked this question to Pierce Brosnan himself (no, seriously). Let me explain.
In February of last year, PB was on a radio show in the UK to promote his new movie, "The Matador", and I sent in a question for him by e-mail that I was chuffed to hear being read out on the air 🙂 . I asked him whether, if Daniel Craig "pulled a George Lazenby" and only ended up doing the one Bond film, he would ever consider returning to the role for the encore that he deserved? He paused for a bit ... and then, to my surprise, rather than flatly saying no (as I had expected), he rather cryptically replied that "Everything's possible. They know where to find me ...". He then (predictably) said that he didn't think that that was going to happen "by any stretch of the imagination", and praised Daniel Craig as a wonderful actor whom he said would "shine brightly". The interviewer then said to him "But never say never again, eh?", to which he replied "No never say never again; they know where to find me ...".
Well there ya go - there's your answer 🙂 . What intrigued me was how uncomfortable PB sounded during that entire exchange; guess he was still feeling bitter about the whole getting fired thing ...
In any case, it's a moot point, really; Daniel Craig was universally praised as JB, and in any case he's contracted to do another 2 films. So unless Pierce Brosnan pulls a Sean Connery and does his own, unofficial entry ala 'never say never again' (which I find highly doubtful), then I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that you've seen the last of him as 007.
