Would Pierce Brosnan return as Bond?

I agree that Brosnan was one of the best Bonds out there. I think Lazenby and Moore were the worst. I also think that Dalton, if given a proper chance, would have been the best, seeing as he had a more gritty and realistic take towards Bond. But...we'll see how Craig does. I have little faith for him right now....

I actually think he's going to be superb. If he had black hair, I tell you he'd look perfect for the role. Not that good looking, but by no means ugly. I hope he brings a darker, more gritty feeling towards the character. I want him, as well as Casino Royale, be as close to the novel as possible.

Bump! Sorry for bumping this golden oldie, but I just remembered this thread this morning, and thought that you guys might be interested to hear a definitive response to the question:

... that comes straight from the horses' mouth; I say that because I've actually asked this question to Pierce Brosnan himself (no, seriously). Let me explain.

In February of last year, PB was on a radio show in the UK to promote his new movie, "The Matador", and I sent in a question for him by e-mail that I was chuffed to hear being read out on the air 🙂 . I asked him whether, if Daniel Craig "pulled a George Lazenby" and only ended up doing the one Bond film, he would ever consider returning to the role for the encore that he deserved? He paused for a bit ... and then, to my surprise, rather than flatly saying no (as I had expected), he rather cryptically replied that "Everything's possible. They know where to find me ...". He then (predictably) said that he didn't think that that was going to happen "by any stretch of the imagination", and praised Daniel Craig as a wonderful actor whom he said would "shine brightly". The interviewer then said to him "But never say never again, eh?", to which he replied "No never say never again; they know where to find me ...".

Well there ya go - there's your answer 🙂 . What intrigued me was how uncomfortable PB sounded during that entire exchange; guess he was still feeling bitter about the whole getting fired thing ...

In any case, it's a moot point, really; Daniel Craig was universally praised as JB, and in any case he's contracted to do another 2 films. So unless Pierce Brosnan pulls a Sean Connery and does his own, unofficial entry ala 'never say never again' (which I find highly doubtful), then I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that you've seen the last of him as 007.

Lazenby and Daulton were by far the worst Bonds. And although Brosnan is 4th on my list, I think he wouldn't come back. Craig definitely met if not exceeded those expectations.

WOW!!! I chuckle at some of your posts about how sooooo many people were dubious about Craig as the new Blond Bond saying the producers were destroying the franchise for replacing Brosnon for him. 🙂

Casino Royale to date (i'm pretty sure) has become the most successful Bond film ever and Craig is now being mentioned in the same breath as Connery as far Best Bonds. Considering the fact that he's only done one movie its safe to say that we'll see him as Bond in at least 2-3 more films.

Well you must admit - hiring Craig WAS a big risk, and his getting the job was especially jarring as everyone had initially expected Pierce Brosnan to do one more film before he bowed out of the franchise (including the man himself!). But you're right - "Casino Royale" is, to date, the most successful Bond film ever (in terms of box office revenue), and Craig is now hailed as one of the best Bonds.

And btw, just so you know, Craig is under contract to do at least another 2 films as 007.

Nov. 2008 is already marked on my calender!!!! Can't wait for Bond 22.🙂 🙂 My only fear is that the filmakers WON'T stick to the same formula that made Casino Royale so freakin good. However, the same writer is involed so i have faith.

Yeah, but the same guys (neil purvis and robert wade) also wrote "Die Another Day", so sadly their presence isn't a guarantee of quality. I'm really hoping that Paul Haggis (the Oscar-winning writer of films such as "Crash", who collaborated with the two aforementioned writers on "Casino Royale"😉 will return to help with Bond 22; he has so far been very coy on this particular subject ...

Pierce is the second best Bond and he will not be coming back.

If you'll read my above post, as (extremely) unlikely as this is, it's not impossible ...

Hey guys. Been away from the forum for a while, so it's good to be back once more 🙂 ...

Just wanted to tell you guys (in case you didn't know) that Haggis' involvement in Bond 22 has now been confirmed. Considering what a great polish job he did on the "Casino Royale" script, this can surely only be good news ...

indeed!!

I don't think so,

Cause Brosnan became too old to act in these kind of movies which needs a lot of skill.

This kinds of movies required guys have the ability to perform tough scenes.

Well ... in theory, you're right. But remember that Roger Moore was a whopping 57 years of age when "AVTOK" came out ... though that, perhaps, is reason enough to not make the same mistake again 😛 ...

I believe Brosnan is too old for the character now. He's in his 50's I believe.

I hope that Daniel Craig will not do another James Bond film.

Well, you're out of luck I'm afraid. He's doing at least one more (and, I'm guessing, 1 or 2 after that).

I enjoyed Pierce's Bond a great deal but I don't think he'd ever come back
