Yes, fornication is a sin.
Sex is meant to be the perfect union of two people who are married for the purpose of creating life. This was intended by God. To go against God's will is to literally chose "not God" and is sinning.
As for the forgiveness loophole, a repentance must be truly sincere for it to be accepted. You must be truly sorry for your sins, not just repenting so as to get into heaven. Being a Christian does not guarantee you access into heaven.
There are three components to determining the morality of an act: The Object (Actions), The Intention, and The Circumstance. It takes just one of these being bad or evil for the whole act to be immoral.
Object: Sex (Neutral)
Intention: Pleasure (Neutral)
Circumstances: Outside of Marriage (Bad)
Overall: Bad.

I find it amusing how easy you can say that. If there actually is a Wrathful God, which certainly is a possibility, and Xirius has to burn in hell because of listening to you, you both might think a little different.

When was the last time you read the Bible? It says clearly there that repenting washes away ALL of your sin. Therefore, repent before you die, and you're guarenteed access to heaven. Its true. Whether God is wrathful or not.
