Cancer

I was thinking the other day, is a cure for cancer really what we need. If you think about it in an unemotional way, it would eb bad if we found a cure for it. It is natural for people to die. We've cured so many diseases that if we were to cure cancer and aids, all the cancer and aids patients will live and there will be lots of more people. Jsut think about a world with no diseases and the only way to die is in either an accident or being old. That wouldn't be normal and it would somehow screw things up...........................................................Anyone agree?

Ayup and its man's role to find a way to be immortal................

We already have a thread for cancer, #1. And #2 My opinion is that it is not "natural for a 17 year old to die of cancer" Because my Cousin did..He was 17....Just started his life. That is in no way "what we need."

He is talking about humankind as a whole .... where he might actually have a point. On the other hand maybe not.

Well then wouldn't you think that war is good too? I mean if it helps eleminate the populous why not right?

Everything has a life cycle. Humans have the unique opportunity to directly affect their life cycle through medicine. Changing that cycle and creating longer lifes does it really benefit our world by altering it so much..........who knows however I do know that creating longer lives doesn't always increase the quality of life you live.

Just because someone is cured of cancer doesnt mean they wont die 😖 I think we should find a cure, people dont deserve to suffer like that. I watched my mother suffer for three years because of breast cancer and it was terrible. No one deserves that type of death.

when i started this i knew people who've had the misfortune of dealing with cancer were gonna be in here telling me im wrong, and that it isnt fair, but I'm trying to say, not just your mom or dad or brother, think about millions of people that would be cured, there would be to many people. Try feeding all these people, making clothes etc. It would be allot more.........and not just the cancer patients of today would be a live. The cancer patients that would have been would also. And in a way, war can be good. WWII helped bring us out of the Great Depression.

Then let me make myself a little more clear.

Under any circumstances.

Maybe but death is a part of life............................what types of death are acceptable then?

"what types of death are acceptable then?"
The ones where your old and go in your sleep... Thats what I pray for.

On a side note, Your thinking is flawed...
The only way I would consider these cures a flaw is on the genetic level.. say someone suffers from a genetic defect. That person is then cured on a cosmetic level (they no longer suffer, But there genes still hold the flaw) That person will then lead a normal life and pass on those defective genes to there children, So on and so forth.... If mother nature had her way that person would of died and there genes wouldn't of found there way into the pool, From an evolutionary stand point, I could see curing people of certain problems problematic... But we never get to the logical way of thinking, We tend to get too involved in the emotional side of things...

when you get right down to it, we are just animals, like everything else. There will be people who die painfully, which is terrible(dont get me wrong, the thought of anybody suffering bothers me greatly)but it is neccesary

If there was a cure for cancer, no one would die of the disease. We would have hundreds of thouasands of extra people in the world, a massive population increase, which will strain our economy.

I actually think it would be better if there was no cure...

Thats all nice, but do you or anyone you know have cancer?

My grandpa was diagnosed with it last year, thankfully his treatment worked and he's doing fine. Then a few weeks ago, my aunty was diagnosed with it. She's still going on with therapy now...she has 4 kids...is it natural for her to leave them, oldest at 16? I think not.
[/rant]

Dont spew this kind of bullshit when the only reason you can come up with is to keep the population under control. We wont have hundreds of thousands of extra people you idiots, those people are already living. They arent classed as 'extras'.

Go back to playing your Nintendo.

Not 'good'. Just natural.

I think this disturbed me the most. Yeah we're animals and what do animals try to do? Survive. If you're going to rant about cancer being a natural way to die then you must also take into mind that trying to survive is a natural way of thinking. No, people dying painfully is not "necessary". Dying is, but painfully isn't.

A subject like this is near impossible (for most it is) to think about without emotions, since it's normally touches the loss of loved ones. People have the right to live and the right for a treatment.

Okay, lets say that 50,000 people in your country die each year from cancer. If all those people were cured, there would be an extra 50,000 in the country, who would have died were it not for some wonder drug. Every year the population would increase by 50,000.

Doesn't sound like much to you, but it is.

Cancer is cancer, it saddens me that little kids get it, but it's just something we have to get used to.

If there was a cure for cancer, soon enough there'd be cures for just about everything. No one would die of anything, they'd all be saved.

Some people are just not meant to be here for long, whether it be 5 years, 10 years, or 100 years-everyone is here for a set period.

So you would selfishly take their right to live away? If I was 'meant' to die by 10, but could live on through a cure, who are you, or anyone else, to take my chance at living away? Everyone has the right to live, no matter if they were 'meant' to die at a certain age or not. If you could delay your death, you'd sure as hell do it too.

Actually, I wouldn't. If I knew I was only meant to live until I was 30, say, I'd be okay with that, honestly, because it's my belief that people are only here for a set time.

I wouldn't want the world overpopualted, eithor, and you sound like you'd be against assisted suicide as well. 🙄

Fine, if you accept your time and face death willingly, go for it. But speaking for cancer patients and such, who dont want to die, who's to stop them from having a cure if they want to live longer?

Suicide?🤨 I wouldnt assist someone who wanted to take their life, Im the damn opposite. And usually the rolleyes smilie is used as sarcasm, so why are you using it if what you said was correct anyway?
