pfhah....perhaps
here's an interesting article yerss:
There’s a lot of conspiracy theorists saying that McLaren’s failure to get Juan Montoya in to the pits ahead of Kimi Raikkonen was deliberate. Even if it was, it doesn’t amount to team orders. But I think it’s far more likely to be cock-up theory
By letting Montoya go round again they threw away five or six valuable constructors’ points (if he’d joined at the back he would have been ahead of Ralf Schumacher who was 6th) and there’s no way they would entertain that.
As we know from various F1 interviews with drivers, pits-to-car radios are not the best in the world. Not only because F1 cars are travelling so quickly, because F1 cars are very noisy things. Jenson Button revealed that the only place he tends to pick up radio BAR-Honda is on slower corners. Flat out down the straight, with the engine at full chat, it’s just too noisey.
When Jenson Button had his accident on the pit straight, the two McLarens were thirty seconds ahead of the BAR-Honda. After impacting the wall it took another 27 seconds for Charlie Whiting to deploy the Safety Car.
So Montoya and Raikkonen were 57 seconds into a 1:15 second lap when the Safety Car was deployed, which put them both on the flat out back straight. It’s probably more of a miracle that either one of them heard the call, you couldn’t imagine a worse place for it to happen.
You have to feel some sympathy for Montoya because (apart from his wavery pit exit) he’d driven the car impeccably. And what’s more, there was no need for a Safety Car.
Ron Dennis was wrong to say that the punishment didn’t fit the crime, though. There’s a very good reason the red light goes on at the end of the pitlane and it’s not an F1 driver’s position to work out if it’s right or wrong.
But the FIA should leave it there. He’s been punished enough.
It is a surprise that a driver that does great at BMW sucks big time at McLaren, a team that's supposed to be better... (notice how I wrote "supposed" 😛)
but he should figure out that there was a SC situation, even if they didn't tell him: the red light at the end of the lane and when he exited the entire row of cars. Plus he accelerated to get past coulthard, braked and accelerated again
even if he did get behind coulthard, he'd still have been eliminated.
and he didn't suck...he was going for a win...if they had pitted him first, he'd have won......but kimi's wins are mandatory 😄...so they pitted him second, and he risked it. he's used to his indy races..you can do that in there.
and i'm sure you agree the mclaren car is way better than the williams....and montoya's starting to drive pretty well in it.
my point was that the punishment was too harsh....and it's questionable whether or not they'd have done the same to schummy.
also...looki at the new rules for 2008.
there's a summary down the page. pretty interesting...

I skimmed it, I'm very much for cutting back on the electronic aids. I was always one of the first to say that it killed the sport cause it eliminated the human error aspect of it...
like remember the race in Italy between Hakkinen and Schumacher in a combat for the worldtitle and Mika switched into the wrong gear? THAT is what makes a race great, not how almost computer controled they can drive
ok, I know I wasn't going to see it till the recap cause I wanted to see Mexico-Brazil in the Confed Cup, but my friend called me up
I'm sorry but this is downright pathetic! Ferrari has really ****ed up any credits for me now (jordan and minardi never had any). If you make a stand about safety for drivers, you don't screw things up and get the points
those are the plans for the 2008. one single tyre supplier, yes.
and ofcourse they're not final since one of the proposals is reducing the aerodynamicity by 90%....😑 that's going back to nicky lauda days...25 years ago or so. it's ridiculous!
and i don't know about that ush..it's not michelin's fault. the new tyres were there..they just didn't allow them to make the change. nor did they allo that chicane...i hope this will somehow result with a change of leadership within fia 😬
