When you're here for a year, you get 85 x 85 avatars. When you're here for two years, you get 100 x 100 avatars.

Avatar size depends on how long you've been a member. After a year you can have 85x85, after two years (or if you're a mod), you can have 100x100. It's been like that well over a year now.
