When you think about it, the Sith only fell after Ragnos's death and they took the offensive? Why? because the Sith can never work together, they are more likely a bunch of traitors amongst themselves, each and every one of them would save their own skins or murder their superior, thereby meaning their unity is short lived, and so are their victories..
So it isnt a question of their power, in my view, they far surpass the Jedi...EG. Kun needed the betrayal of Ulic and thousands of Jedi converging on him, to win...
But due to their nature to gain personal power for themselves, they forsake their Empire, meaning in the end, they destroy themselves. If they could all band together and stick as a united group, they would easily defeat the Jedi..
It's not just that Sith destroy themselves. It is that they are innately parasitic, whereas the Light Side is symbiotic.
The Light Side knows true friendship, honour, trust, comradeship, team-spirit... these are all strengths that the Dark Side lack.
As far as George Lucas was concerned, the Sith were totally destroyed in ROTJ. There is no-one left to pass on their teachings- everyone who knew them is dead.
If we accept the role playing game, the dark side starts out stronger, and increases in strength faster, but then plateaus after a a few levels, the light side on the other hand has a more steady rate of increase.
So for the first few levels (i forget where the plateau is) the dark side kicks some serious A. A few levels after that plateau however, the light side takes control. So as long as there's enough time, the light side wins.

True, however, im saying even in darkness, if those Sith had some form of reliability, and some trust, rather than seeking personal gain, their superior powers and strength are sufficient to take down the Jedi and the Republic..
as for the GL quote, if only they didn't write DE and NJO etc...it wouldnt insipire so many Luke fanboys
You guys can't be serious...The Sith posess every ability the Jedi do. The difference is that the Sith also posess abilities that the Jedi don't. The Sith are smart enough to use their power for personal gain. All of the offensive capabilities like force-choke, Sith lightening, etc make them more powerful than the Jedi.
The Jedi won't even read a mind even though it's one of many abilities one can master thru The Force. The Sith will go so far as to not only read minds, but plant dreams and suggestions in others if it serves their purpose.
The Sith are always defeated because it is the will of The Force. That's out of GL's mouth. VIVA SITH!
Simple answer neither The Jedi or the Sit hwhill ever win completely, sure you can kill the Sith, But the sith is a believe and their teacthing whill continue, and there is always eomeone else to take up the roll of dark lord of the sith, as is it the other way, the jedi could be almost completly whiped out, there is always someone to take up the teacthings of both side's and whill always continue on
