No I wasnt. I was asking if there was a difference between rude and blunt. I myself know the difference but I was curious if other people viewed them as the same or different. No where in any of my posts is there a sentence that says please provide an example.

What the hell did I just post woman?

We clearly are not understanding each other here.

I agree.

Screencapped and sent to his Razness ( after once again it's been proven that reporting a post only works for "certain" people ), thank you for playing. 🙂

And Mind I tend to agree with that.

Well, seeing as you have clearly taken offense to an example of rudeness, there must be a difference between the two words. Obviously, the superior subtly of my post has been lost on you; by demonstrating rudeness other people have acknowledged it. If I was being blunt, would the same brouhahahahahahahahahahaha occured? Therefore, the difference is shown.

It's just a shame that by getting a demonstration of the difference that your thread requests, you have started whining. If you don't like it when the results of discussion are at odds with your own, then it's best you find another toy to play with; like a mirror.

*sigh*
A. The results are NOT different from what I expected OK? Let's get that straight.

B. NO WHERE IN MY INITIAL POST DID I SAY PLEASE INCLUDE AN EXAMPLE OF RUDENESS. Therefore your post was NOT warranted because I can tell the difference thank you very much.

C. There was no whining, in fact I distincty told Raz that I wasnt asking for you to be banned, just that you could have made your point without aiming it at me.

D. Clearly you couldnt discuss the subject WITHOUT stooping to the level of the person who prompted me to make the thread to begin with, therefore I've come to the conclusion that the average KMC poster is unable to discuss this topic without taking the opportunity to get in a "free shot" in order to gain a laugh or some feeling of self worth.

So do feel free to continue on with your presentation since it means so much to you. wave

No one is bound to please you. You just didn't understand my post.

Complaining and whining are much closer in their level of similarity than rudeness and bluntness.

Again, you didn't understand my post. It's OK, not everyone is blessed with the ability to comprehend subtleties. In fact, most people on KMC only recognise bombast.

Thanks. I think I've already done that though (see above). It only means so much to me because I feel it is my duty as a humanitarian to help enlighten those blighted by ignorance.

Job done. Next patient please, Nurse!

The two are different.

I can tell you what you WANT to hear, but I really should be telling you what you NEED to hear. You should take it as constructive criticism, that will most probably help you.

Yet, since we have different perceptions on the phrase and their meaning, while one person may view it as blunt, the reciever may understand it as rude. It would then be important to ask the critic to explain himself properly as to ascertain what his thought was behind the remark.

Im curious about something. Is there really a difference between rudeness and being blunt? Ive seen many people who hide their rudeness behind the guise of bluntness. Lord knows Ive been guilty of this myself.

But on the whole, are they one in the same?

I dont think so, esa.

I think of being blunt as constructive criticism/ tough love. Rude is just straight-up being a dick, ey?

Since this thread has turned into an argument, I shall close it.
