It was a great movie imo, they just shouldn't of ripped the credits from Wrong Turn.

I heard this movie sucked ass, but I'll still see it cuz you can never trust what anyone else says, except for what Backfire says. So, if Backfire didn't like this movie, then I might not go see it. Oh, who am I fooling. I'll wait for it to come out on DVD anywayz. Word.

Saw it, liked it.

Very intense, though pretty cliched. It did its job pretty well.

So I'll see it.

I saw this a few weeks ago and I really liked it. I liked how at the beginning there were some good family scenes, so that once the mutants attacked I truly felt for them. A standout was definetley that geeky guy. What a surprise it was to read that it was the same actor that did Pyro in the X-men films. He was completely unrecognizable. And the mutants were cool too. It would've been great to see more of that large melon-head type guy, especially when the dog gets him. Does anyone else know what the deal was with the trenchcoat guy that was chasing the kid and her sister at their trailer near the end. Why was it he was the only one that didn't look mutated at all?

In the unrated version, that guy

Spoiler:
takes the mothers body from the car, runs into the hills and starts eating the mums insides, its ****ing gross, then the son see's the body aint there and runs into the hills and see's the mutant eating his mums stomach. It's fu*ked up. And that mutant is also the one who kills the dog and eats the dog leg when the son falls off the cliff.

The unrated version is brutal. It's up on a few trackers.

Well, I got my hands on Aja's "The Hills Have Eyes" this afternoon and gave it a look see. Never have I been so let down by a director whom I once thought had so much promise.

My distain started from the credits, which more or less mimiced that of the "Dawn of the Dead" remake. Some twangy country tune, coupled with black and white scenes, intercut with zombies, or in this case, inbred cannibals.

Something else I saw as a flaw, that others would see as a compliment, is that it followed the original too closely. Aja resorted to 50 dull minutes of jump scares with the score, as if to say "Hey! Stay awake!". Just horrible pacing. Even at the 50 minute mark, when we get our first glimpse of anything remotely interesting, it had come and gone. Which brings me to my next complaint, the "inbred cannibals". Was this THHE or a "Goonies" homage? Michael Berryman, IMO, was the shit, and carried that movie, and to replace him with a Chunk lookalike (who acted equally as retarded) was a pity. These characters were HILARIOUS, not FRIGHTENING. Soon after the introduction, the

Spoiler:
immolation of Big Bob looked so..****ing..fake..
it was just bad, bad, bad.

I don't even feel the need to keep going, because it will just be more complains about bad dialogue, ridiculous mutant rednecks, and hardly any gore to support it's self billed slaughterfest.

Personally, I had planned to add this one to my shelf Tuesday without even watching it, but now, I dislike it even worse than the original, frankly and can't recommend it. Perhaps Aja should stick to doing his own work, instead of remakes, given THHE wasn't a masterpiece to begin with, and never really came off as a frightening film. A totally unnecessary update, like most of these revisitings.

BTW, the "Unrated" version is a whopping ONE minute longer than the theatrical, so don't expect anything special.

Meh. I never expect anything special with these "Unrated" dvd's, as I only see them as a marketing ploy. I, personally, liked it. I didn't LOVE it, say, enough to buy it, but I liked it enough. I agree with you, C-Dic, about the credits a la Dawn of the Dead, and the fact that the mutants came off as hilarious, rather than grotesque (lotta John "Sloth" Matuszak look-alikes), but all in all I really have to say I liked it. I'd rate it a 7/10.

I almost rented this, but just couldn't quite bring myself to doing so.

This movie was the only one in a long list of recent horror remakes that I thought was actually better than the original.....not since Cronenberg's The Fly or Carpenter's The Thing has the remake outdone the original.

Realistic deaths...

Oh and by the way, whoever was talking about a certain scene with the mother in the unrated version, that was in the theatrical version as well.

I thought the first movie was good, most movies that are being remade are completely downrating the original version and giving it a very bad name.

I'm not even going to bother to see the new movie, not even worth my time. I am tired of good movies being turned into sex scened, nudity loving, cursing out of their butts, ridiculous actors/actresses stupid crap.

Ehh. I bought the unrated version, even though the cover isn't as cool because she doesn't looked errily relaxed. I dont think most remakes are worse, or better, but kind of the same. This was deff better though

This deffinately did not happen:

I am tired of good movies being turned into sex scened, nudity loving, cursing out of their butts, ridiculous actors/actresses stupid crap.

so, is this movie rental worthy? I heard there was like, a reaaaaaally long rape scene in here, is that true?

About the closest the movie has is a short scene where one of the mutants pulls open the mother's shirt and begins to...well...you know, but absolutely no nudity is revealed and it ends very quickly when she rams a screwdriver through his leg.

And btw Lizzy it's very rentable. A good horror movie IMO. Be sure to watch it though at night with the lights off and the sound very loud. 😛

i heard quite a funny remark today some Lass was talking to her friends
and she was saying have you seen 'Wrong turn' and they were like Yeah , then she goes ' welll 'The Hills have eyes ' copied off that movie and i was 😐 Its a sodding remake of the 1970s original not a frigging Teen crap horror movie what are you dense 😐

It copied Wrong Turn left right and center.

The opening credits, the barb-wire on the road, the junkyard of cars.

To say that it didn't copy Wrong Turn proves how dumb people on KMC are and why I don't post here anymore.

um.......I don't want to get involved with that last post, but yeah, some people are just unaware about all these remakes and such.

this movie wasn't scary, it was greousome (did i spell that right) and very broken in parts, what i mean is it got a little confusing who was bad zombiemen, or who was goodzombiemen, and i didn't know who to feel sorry for, then i just got angry at them both. mainly cause the zombies were ugly! and at the humans cause they were beautiful, why can't normal people ever be on tv shows!!!! DAMNATION. sorry did i lose it?

ummm.......they weren't really zombies though right? Just cannabalistic mutants, right?

erm, does it matter if they are good or not? *cocks shotgun* I don't think President Bush would want any damn mutants runnin around here! *spits out chewing tobacco*

I bought the unrated version and thought it was great. really awesome
gorescenes. The only letdown was the rapescene. It's been so hyped up!! It appears to been cut from the UK version but there is nothing to cut. You actually see nothing and the actual 'rape' scene isn't long at all.

So Lizzy don't expect to much of that. But still a great movie!
