The sad thing is that young folks like yourself don't realize its already there, and the people who DON'T buy into the: " kill the babies and the old people, save the whales and the trees" mentality are the ones trying to bring it back.

you must be about 3 or 4 neurons away from blacking out and shitting your pants.

Quit your patronizing "young people" bullshit because you're only a few years older than me; you are also younger than several of the other posters (PVS, Capt, etc) in this thread.
I'm sorry, I'm not the one here trying to shove personal religious beliefs down the throat of an entire nation, where freedom of religion is guaranteed and it is unconstitutional and illegal to do so. I'm not trying to make everyone conform to what I believe in. I simply believe in giving people the choice to live their lives their own way. You, however, are not content until everyone is living the Christian™ lifestyle. Which I find to be disgusting and reprehensible -- not that you ARE Christian, but that you expect everyone to bend and conform to what you think is right and condemn those who don't and won't.

A few choice lines from the article I posted that seem conviently ignored:
The Georgia constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage was approved by 76 percent of the state’s voters in November 2004.
Two states — Louisiana and Missouri — had approved bans earlier in the year.
Earlier this week, Georgia announced it will appeal a judge’s ruling that struck down its voter-approved ban on gay marriage.
As much as you would like to blame the evil/Nazi/Christian/Republican government that you think is responsible for such an ammendment even MAKING it to a senate vote,.....
perhaps you should look before you leap and realize the most folks, 7 out of 10 in most cases, AGREE that marriage should be between a man and a woman.
Most people AGREE that the family is the cornerstone of society, and that over 5,000 years of history where each generation raised up the next to continue on, through marriage of men and women, and the raising of children, is NOT in the wrong here.
You are the minority.
While you can voice your opinion, that doesn't mean that the whole country will swallow your crap (no puns, please) and allow all the morally obtuse to change the way of life in this country.
Your problem is with your neighbors, not the "neo-con" officials that we choose to represent us.

Yeah, but age is relative.
I'm only 23, so I'm just a few years older than you, but don't compare us.
I'm was an extremely gifted student at school, scoring a 9th grade math level, a 10th grade science level, and four P.H.S(post high school) scores on my S.A.T.'s when i was in sixth grade.
I was also reading the daily paper front to back, and learning the in's and out's of the FIRST Iraq war while you were a 3rd grader in pigtails.
I've always had the company of older people, and been involved in various discussions, ranging from stocks and investments, to the fine arts, to religion and philosophy and so on.
Right now, at 23, I'm the Operations Manager of a flooring company, dealing with company reps, customers, property management, installers and work crews, and so on, ..... and you can believe me that I am far younger than any of the people whoose asses I have to chew out on a regular basis.
Does that make me smarter than you?
Of course not.
Does me taking care of my bi-polar mother, and caring for my asthmatic brother at the age of 12 make me smarter than you?
Of course not.
Does the fact that I spent time in Juvenile hall, a Jamaican boot camp, and the county jail make me smarter than you?
That would be a hell no!
Have I been through more of life, experienced it in many diverse ways, in many different classes/social levels of it?
I don't know your life history, but based on your posting and your profile, I would venture a "yes."
I base my points of view on what I have seen to be true in my own life, what I have experienced, what my family has experienced.
I'm against abortion because my mother had one, my mother in-law had one, (both regret it and dealt with depression over it) and becuase no matter what stage its in, it IS a life... one that would continue to grow into a human just the same as you or I if left alone.
I'm against gay marriage for the reasons that I have already stated.
My religion always comes into it, but thats becuase you and the other posters feel it's necessary to do so.
I could back up any of my view points without ever going there, with history, or biology, or just plain common sense.
You present your posts based on pure EMOTIONALISM.
You believe that people should be Absolutley, Totaly, Free.
You believe that people should "do whatever they want, when they want, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else."
You really believe that, and so you will post that you support the ending of human life so that people can have sex whenever they want, with no consequences (like an inconvenient life of a child) to get in their way.....
You will post that being gay is normal, even though your own biology would disagree with you....
You will post that gay's should be allowed to marry, that our whole way of society( boy meets girl, gets married, has kids, REPEAT) should be changed.....
Because of your emotionalism.
That's more comfortable to you than looking at both sides and seeing the realities of the situation.
THATS why I call you "young folks."
Going through a few more of life's phases may change your outlook, who knows. 🙂

Also from the news article:
On Election Day in 2004, a presidential year, initiatives on gay marriage and civil unions were on the ballot in 11 states, driven in part by opposition to the Massachusetts state Supreme Judicial Court’s recognition of same-sex marriage and Republican calculations that the issue would send conservative voters to the polls.
😉 (It's just gettin started buddy.)
No wonder you're religious, you've spent time in detention centers.
*sigh* Just because you have experienced more of life than a 19 or 20 year old doesn't mean jack shit. There are people over twice your age who have been through quadruple what you will ever be through, and some of them have different views than you. Views that would happen agree with Lana's.
Your egotistical and arrogant 'young folks' bullshit is really annoying and serves no purpose. What you've been through is completely irrelevant to your illogical desire for controlling other people's lives with your own beliefs.
People like you suck.
What the hell does your experience in working as a floor manager, caring for a cookoo mother, reading a newspaper and being in prison have to do with your credibility when it comes to homosexuality (other than the possibility of engaging in gay rough fun-filled sex in prison)?
Nothing Lana has said to you qualifies as "emotionalism". Everything she's said is completely reasonable and level headed. Your lazy attempt at hurting her credibility on the matter is just laughable. If anything, your lengthy, emo-like post about your boohoo hardships and how it somehow increases your qualifications to talk about a completely unrelated issue is "emotionalist".
Note that he completely ignored the important part of my post, as well.
I'm not surprised though.
So really, Sithsaber, tell me. How would two people who you've never met before getting married effect you in anyway? Oh, let's see here. It doesn't. At all. So why do you care? It's not your business.
Your "life experience" is completely and totally irrelevant to this discussion, and like BackFire said, paints you as the "emotionalist" here.

Sorry, there is no reasonable argument against gay marriage that is not based on some sort of religion or spiritualism. If you believe so, you are lying to yourself.
Yeah.
Biology doesn't agree that homosexuality isn't normal. biology can't even say such a thing. It is a Science that describes and explains, homosexuality obviously occurs therefore it mus be a normal part of nature.
No one says that this should be changed. Guess what, homosexuals usually don't partake in that activity nowadays anyways. So nothing, nothing would change if they were allowed to marry. Nothing. It is just your damn Bible (which would be one of the few books I'd be glad if it was burned out of existence....but that's just me, you are free to read it, because...well...I believe in freedom....unlike you.) tells you it's wrong. Really, there is no reason why gay marriage shouldn't be allowed. Well, I guess we can all be glad you didn't live in the fifties, you'd be the kind that stones blacks to death.
We are not emotional. We are rational. You are the one having no reason to be against what you are against.
Bullshit.
Bullshit
Bullshit
Yeah, that about covers it.

Truth is relative you f*cking moron. Teh only absolute truth is that you don't understand the intricacies of homosexuality, so you base everything on the relativity of 2000 year old book. And by teh way, teh earth is more than 3000 years old.

Yes you were probably a regular child prodigy. But that still doesn't take away from teh fact that you believe that teh complex DNA molecule with about 10 nucleotide pairs per helical turn and with spiral strands, and composed of a sugar phosphate backbone, which is connected to a complementary strand by hydrogen bonding, between paired bases, adenine, thymine, guanine, and cytosine was created by an "Intelligent Designer"
Most educated people know that teh spontaneous generation of alien panspermia created a primordial soup that allowed tetrapods to evolve into land mammals. Genetic drift then causes isolation of certain species, which then causes social isolation as well as physical isolation, which causes the species to spontaneously adapt and mutate into new organisms through random mutations.
Please study up on Abiogenesis and evolution, you just keep on making yourself look more stupid with each post.

Your against gay marriage because you want people to be just like you, I want people to be free thinkers and do whatever makes them feel good just like me. You think that there should be laws and standards, I think that there should be lawlessness and no standards, except teh ones I make up to please myself. Which one of us sounds more rational?

I don't give a rat's ass about nature, history, biology, religion, or common sense. As long as your belief doesn't get in the way of my own agenda for this world, then you can state "I love baby Jesus" all day long..just let me continue to teach your children about teh intracies of homosexuality, and let me to continue to force teh state into forcing you to accept my lifestyle.

Exactly. As long as I can do whatever I want to you, but you have no authority of me and my lifestyle, that's fine with me.

Your a f*cking moron, who's just another sheep. You think that teh only way to be happy is to make others accept your lifestyle of rules and standards, while I think that teh people should be able to do what they want, whenever the f*ck they want.
I'm sure baby Jesus would be proud of your for professing such "loving and tolerant" views.

Except I disagree with you about the "two" people part. I think teh law should recognize marriage of more than two people. There is no limit to the amount of loving bonds a person can share with another.
I also believe that teh law should do away with incest laws and recognize the relationship that people have with inanimate objects and animals as well. Not the same as marriage, but the could call them "social unions"
Why should a person who doesn't prefer the company of living human beings or is in love with their parents or siblings, not have teh same rights or tax benefits as all the "normal" heterosexuals out there?
Other than those minor points. I completely agree with you Lana.
