The handbooks said that Thing was class 85, and Namor was Class 95.
Period.
Yeah, Namor has done some wild stuff. He used to regularly exchange punches with the Hulk, no matter how angry or strong the Hulk got, it never made it easy for him. Namor was always right there. And I believe Namor has beaten Hulk a few times actually.

The fact is, that now he is fighting a guy who is not only stronger then him, (like Hulk is) but also faster, more experienced, better fighter and smarter then him.
Namor has all the advantages. Thing has none.

As much as I hate Thing I am gonna stick up for him here. Now I am not saying he beats Namor but this is not gonna be a blow over like some people are assuming.
Thing can hold his own with Hulk so I think he can hold his own with Namor. The only time Namor has beat Hulk were with Namors plot devices.
If they fight in a adamantium cage I think Thing will get some wins over Namor. Thing has him in the fighting experience and I think cause he has a 5 rating according to Marvel and Namor has a mere 3.
Durability I give to Thing also. His body is made out of rock while Namors is stilll considered flesh etc.
Speed goes to Namor.
I say on land with no water plot-devices Namor wins 6/10.

Plot devices? Like what? Him being in water? He has punched Hulk uncouncious. There were no plot devices there. Before you start to say "bad writing", ALL the fights where Namor beats Hulk were written by Stan the Man Lee. Who created Hulk. And I think he would know his own character the best...

That is because Marvel ratings suck when it comes to Namor, like I have proved over and over again. Namor was born as the first prince of a warrior nation that has had over ten thousand years to perfect the arts of fighting. He had the best tutors in everything, including fighting. For example, Krang, the best swordsman in Atlantis trained him in swordsmanship.
What does Thing have? Two or three years in USA Army, if even that.
Those facts alone would make Namor better fighter then Thing, but you see, he has had 85 YEARS to practice his fighting, compared to Thing's about ten years, because unlike Namor, his fighting training didn't start as a kid.
Marvel Handbooks are done by people who have done almost no research for the handbooks, don't know the characters thoroughly, and they shouldn't be used in debates as a proof.

Remember when the Heroes came back from Heroes Reborn saga? The big spaceship exploded and the heroes were either teleported safely on planet or they landed under their own power to the ground. Like Fantastic Four did. They were escorted with the help of Invisible Woman and landed roughly to the ground inside her forcefield. Thing was knocked out in the landing.
Namor landed in the same way. But he didn't have the help of a forcefield with him...

I will agree that Namor will take Thing
more often then not in a 1 on 1 fight.......
but let's not forget.....Ben has been fighting and gang-banging
ever since he was a little boy......add college football and wrestling....
add the fact that he was a TOP Air Force pilot.....(better than Maverick anyway),
and you have one of the toughest brawlers in comics........period.
but i do agree that Namor has too many advantages like speed,
experience, flight, arrogance, for Thing to overcome....
just had to clear up matters on Thing....
