They ARE a benefit. Sora can out maneuver Link with ease. Plus, his handling of a sword is beyond what any normal person can perform. Link is just a regular swordsman.

The comparison was rather faulty. The gap between Sora and Link is not as huge as the gap between Goku and a regular martial artist. Goku could, with tremendous ease, break Sora's and Link's necks, regardless of fighting style.

Gameplay/Story segregation, boyo. Furthermore, Link's got longer arms than Sora, generally, depending on whether he's an adult or not, and Sora needs to guess what, come within swording range if he wants to hit Link with that keyblade.
IE, nonsensical fighting style =/= advantage. Now gtfo with that shit. An experienced fighter in a practical fighting style with equal physical stats to Goku would wreck Goku's shit barring energy attacks, which are impossible.
Do doubt a few inches of range is that useful. Scratch that anyway since Sora can increase the blades size or use his Light finishers. There is method to his madness, his movements aren't wasted they're to dispatch of enemies in a swift manner.. quite successfully too. Tbh the level of skill Link has isn't going to be the thing to give him the win.

I lol'd at the comparison to drunken fist for Sora. That was hysterical. A few inches of reach in a sword fight sounds useful to me. But I am curious how Sora can increase his reach right in the middle of battle. I'm pretty convinced you'll tell me that he'll just swap out a different key chain. But he can't do that in a fight.
