The Parade was INSANE. And I was able to get into the stadium for the post parade cermonies and that was great too.

This was the best moment of the entire day.

😆 😆 I saw that, but that wasn't the parade, that was the night they won the World Series.

I love the offseason and Hot Stove period of basbeall that we're in now.... but the asking prices for some of these players is really ridiculous! Agents are ruining the game.

I know what you mean..

Agents like Scott Boras have no business trying to bleed for more money

Seriously.... people talk about what's wrong with the game and all that, but the truth is that people like Scott Boras is what's wrong.

Boras gets 0% of the blame. He is doing his job what THE ATHLETES hired him to do. He simply does it better than most others in his profession. If the owners did not pay up and if the fans did not spend the money on games/merchandise/etc.. then the players wouldn't get the big $$$'s but those things do happen. So if the teams have the money and they are willing to pay it, and someone hired YOU to get them the best deal for their services then they should try to get every dime they can for their clients.

Agreed, great points, but I think the fact is that agents take advantage of that. Whatever... they just need to hurry and start making some big moves.

The Phillies are supposedly longshots for Manny, Holliday, and Magglio Ordonez, with Holliday the most likely player of the 3 in Phillies Pinstripes next year, assuming Burrell doesn't come back.

Manny in the middle of the Phillies lineup would be ridiculous. I can only imagine how good it would be(assuming everybody is healthy.) If you put Manny behind Howard, pitchers could no longer walk/pitch around Howard and get hit to swing at a lot of balls, and his numbers would probably be the best of his career with all the pitches he would be getting that he normally doesn't get.

They dont have to pitch around Howard he will strike himself out. I actually think Holliday would be by far the best one to have in their or any lineup. He is young can hit deep can hit for a ridiculously high average and can even steal some bases.

I'd be inclined to say that away from Coors Field his numbers will dip, but considering the toybox that is the Phillies park, he'll do what Aaron Rowand did and have a career year.

Dodgers offered Manny 2 years/$50M. Hopefully, he accepts

Thats fine if you want to say his power will go down a bit without so many at coors but a bigger park gives him more room to drop balls in for hits and XBH as well. Hes not a pure HR hitter so a diff park isnt huge for him. Hes an all around guy not a 40-50 HR feast or famon like Howard.

Oh no doubt Howard will strike himself out plenty of times. But I feel with Manny protecting him behind him, he will cut down(somewhat) on the strikeouts. Half his strikeouts is because he was way to anxious, and maybe he won't be if he knows one of the best clutch hitters in the league is behind him. And most of his strikeouts are when he swings at bad pitches. They aren't giving him anything to hit and he's still trying to hit it for a homerun. He strikes himself out by swinging at bad pitches, but it's because they are pitching around him and not giving him anything to hit that he even sees those pitches in the first place.

I would love Holliday but they are saying that he would not sign with us so he would basically be a one year rental. And it's rumored that Victorino would have to be in the deal along with a couple of our top prospects, which is too much for a one year rental. We were rumored to trade for him at the deadline, and the deal was Victorino, Carrasco(our top pitching prospect), Marson(top catcher who hit a homerun in his debut 😛) and Jason Donald who is tearing up AAA. I'm sure the Rockies are going to be looking for less now, but if they aren't, there is no way I would do that trade.

Yea thats the big difference too, holliday you have to trade for manny you just gotta pay out $20 mill a year for.

So what are the A's thinking? Are they hoping to sign Holliday after the season, or is this a one year rental at the expense of Gonzalez(whom I think will be a VERY good player)?

Supposedly Street, Gonzalez, and Smith are in the deal. Also it doesnt seem they are signing him long term. If he becomes a FA they will get 2 draft picks automatically and if they suck next year they can trade him at the deadline (like CC this year) and get great value.

They'd get good picks now if the let him walk after the year, so it is a good idea.

The Rockies are turning around and trading Street now, so I hear.

they should with corpas and fuentes there

Fuentes is not re-signing with the Rockies. If Corpas is their best closer, they're in trouble.
