My Manga/Anime

It's sort of like an inspiration off of DBZ, it currently doesn't have a name as I am changing it, the last name was Dragonstones but I'm changing the name, taking out the stones & I'm taking out a dragon who can grant wishes. Anyway, it's basically about fighters becoming stronger & fighting aliens who want to either destory the universe or conquer it. It won't be all fighting though, some episodes will show them laid back & they'll be doing other stuff. They will have transformations (even the humans) & the humans will have just as much time as the alien fighters who're on the good side. I'm still practicing drawing so there are no concept images at the moment but I'm hoping to start drawing the manga as soon as possible. At my current rate this will take quite a while to complete, I'd say 5-7 years. Hopefully it'll be finished sooner.

Any questions?

Why not just name it Dragonball Z? Because that's what it sounds like in my opinion.

It's in EARLY production. Besides, I'm on another forum where a guy is creating a manga/anime which will be appearing on TV in 2007 & he is helping me. Besides, you should learn more about it before you say it's going to be a ripoff or a failure. One of the basic things that separates my manga/anime from DBZ is the fact that it's not just all energy attacks. The characters rely more on physical attacks whereas in DBZ energy attacks are used every second.

lol I called it a ripoff yes....never said failure though.

Tell me though, why the need for dragonstones? If it's not a rip off then why not have no Dragon that grants wishes? I mean atleast mask it....Say like having a wolf grant wishes whom emerges from a bottle of soda or something....But having a blatent idea like that? Come on.

And having help from published people doesn't really change anything....Your basic idea is a complete rip off of DBZ, I'm sorry but most other people will think it aswell.

How's it a ripoff when I've gotten rid of a lot basically of the DBZ like qualities? There's no dragon, no legendary form & no villains that have to absorb androids for perfection. It's not a ripoff.

You got to have some over all plot....A freak of the week type situation won't work...It'll get repetitive and stale after the first arc.

What's the overall, underlining theme?

Well, I was thinking of having them fighting on different planets, training & sometimes they may lose their powers & fight ordinary criminals using their martial arts.

I don't know man (woman?)......You got to add some depth....Some story to it.

Sure fighting is good eye candy, but over all it makes for a very bad story.

Lol, I'm a dude, I'll fix that real quick.

What type of things should I add to it besides just training & fighting?

I don't know....You have to have a main villian....and a reason for the fighters to be protecting the universe.

Not just the cop out "Oh, we're good people, we won't let you kill anyone" Have someone betray them in the opening sequence, and now they're out for revenge....saving people on the way.

Gotcha. That could work. So, instead of this being all manga like, it could be like a comic book like Justice League where they aren't just fighting & they have to figure out stuff.

Give or take....Yes.....It makes for a lot more entertaining story....But you can make it like a manga, just have a good story, rather then just constant fighting.

I know I can have a manga, I just want it to be long & not another DBZ series. That's my main reason for taking out the dragon, I knew that if I were to keep him in the story then that'd be my downfall & I wouldn't gt many if any fans. And how long should it take for the aliens to reach their ''special'' forms? In the second saga? Third?

Well how many aliens are transforming? You have to be careful, cuz things like that are a complete and utter plot device. Just like SSJ was at the end of DBZ.

Only two. One of the aliens son can't transform due to being only a halfbreed but he does earn a transformation which is more like a powerup. I hated how they had all those Super Saiyans at the end of DBZ, it was nuts. Vegeta could've been the one to defeat Cell & he could've become a SSJ2 after Cell killed Trunks. Or they could've just left it at the Cell saga without going into the Buu saga. And there will only be two forms, that's good enough.

I think everything would have been fine if Vegeta truly did destroy Buu when he self destructed.

But as for your manga, what do you mean by "powerup"?

Something similar to KaioKen but it's just going to be a powerup for the halfbreed aliens.

So it's generic, not by breed?

Yeah, sort of. It's kind of like their way of being a step behind the actual transformation.

Anybody else have any questions about the manga?
