It was (as far as we can tell) omnidirectional. Merely from basic physics, Yoda (with smaller mass), obviously had much greater acceleration than Sidious did.
And yes, I agree, Sidious manipulated that particular environment better. But he was outdueled (and disarmed) by Yoda, and when Yoda leapt on to his pad, he turned a losing proposition into a stalemate before the omnidirectional explosion.
I don't get why this is so hard to understand. Sidious demonstrated superior positioning in a situation. Yoda demonstrated superior skills. Sidious won't have the situational advantages in every fight they have, Yoda will have his skills.
someone said that them picking up a boulder and throwing it down a hill at someone would not be as impressive as the person below catching it and throwing it back at them against gravity. i agree 100%.
if however you picked up numerous boulders, each anchored into the hill, forcing you to pull apart metal, and hold the multiple boulders aove your head and the person below managed to stop one and throw it back it makes it alot less impressive for them, considering what you had to do to throw them in the first place.
is that so hard to understand?they were attached by steel. designed to hold a number of human sized, and heavier, beings in them. they were stuck to the wall with steel. sidious tore them out, more than one at a time. he didnt just pick up a pod a couple of feet and let it fall.

So Sidious couldn't stop a pod that was coming UP at him, yet Yoda could stop a pod that was coming DOWN at him, and reverse its direction. Yoda's display of force was clearly more impressive.
all rite heres my opion on this matter yoda and windu vs dooku and sidous this is actually very tough match the adavantge of force powers go to the sith the lightsaber skills ill give it 2 the jedi so it all comes down to how quick the jedi can make it into a lightsaber duel because rember the empeore blasted yoda with the force lighting and if he didnt spend his time cacling could have finshed him off mace and dooku well even mace said that dooku was better in dueling than him so in the end it would depend on the siuation if the sith start balsting lighting then sith if the jedi close the gap the jedi
