Originally posted by Mr. ValentineI've liked DC's movies more recently, Batman, Constantine, V for Vendetta, far better than the likes of Hulk, Punisher, Electra... X Men I think is the only real good franchise there, Spiderman makes money, but I don't think it was as good as the money it pulled in. Marvel has -more- movies on the market of series' that are current [so exluding 80's DC and Marvel movies, which DC clearly dominated.].
I think that comics-wise DC wins and maybe merchandise. but with movies, games, Marvel win... So on the whole they win, because im pretty sure they would get more cash through ticket sales, dvd and videos games.. etc. 😄
DC also runs TV, with it's cartoons and Smallville. DVD sales on those are also pretty high up there.
Marvel does and has pretty much always run the video-game front though.
SS, i agree with you but i think Marvel own the movie business more because they have more sequel capability, X-men, Spiderman, Fantastic Four, Hulk and Daredevil (if they pluck up the courage) all of these could have potential sequels. whereas, i think some of the DC wont have that, hmm batman begins cud work, um, superman returns? looks rather...crap compared to the old ones to tell the truth. Constantine...nah, that movie werent too good, and V for vendetta 😕
Marvel definately has the movie stuff down pat. Superman returns, to be honest, is going to be sub-par compared to the rest of them. They got a guy who can't act to play him, and they're making him out to be Jesus. That one is going to be carried by Kevin Spacey, to be honest. Batman Begins was good, and will hopefully still be good as they make the trilogy. Wonder Woman is being directed by Joss Whedon, who is a known feminist. It's basically gonna be 2 hours of "Men Suck, Women rule" speak and symbolism. Captain Marvel is getting the director from comedy movies. I screamed when I saw that. He's an awesome character who's gonna get a sucky movie. As for Marvel, they've had the best movies, and best video games up to date. The comics hopefully will get better after Thor gets back, and Civil War starts. Right now, considering all the media, Marvel definately has the edge.
Originally posted by Mr. ValentineAccording to Comic Book Movie, thereWILL be a sequel to Constantine... also, they are already in pre-production for the sequel to Superman Returns... and BB is in a trilogy! Plus, DC have plans for:

Have you SEEN Superman 1 and 2? they were sensational!
Yeah like 20 years ago when they were released. The CGI effects and stunts are now nothing compared to the X-men movies.
And i personally don't think that Superman Returns will be a succes, because superman is anti-populair with the youth. I know a lot of people who read and collect comics and none of them are fan of superman. However, almost all of them like Wolverine and Spiderman.(they are just cooler than a guy who can shoot some gelly out of his eyes)
Superman Returns will probably be overlooked because of the succes of X3, released a month earlier.

You got to be kidding me....So because Xmen flicks had better CGI that makes them better?

Ah, I'm an adult movie-goer though, so I prefer more adult themes with higher calibre acting talent roster. Those DC movies also carried more of a level of realism as well, as opposed to cheap graphics, and cheasy one liners.
Indeed...I've address the fanboy factor for Marvel movies before. Trust me lots of people are realising how these flicks are nothing but blank flicks that depend on the character's fame rather than good storytelling.

Personally I think X3 will be a typical summer action movie you watch while stuffing tons of popcorn in your mouth with your brain turned off. Nothing wrong with that but I'll always think it was a shame Fox and Marvel couldn't wait for Bryan Singer to finish Superman.

That explains why Smallville is one of the most successful shows around.
Well in Belgium the show totally isn't popular, after one season the show was cancelled due to the lack of intrest by watchers.

Yes, and Superman Returns isn't one of those kind of movies because ... ?

And have extra competitors in the race for making a movie a blockbuster ? I don't think so, Marvel was smart releasing the film early.
Well obviously I can't speak for Belgium but here the show is on what, season 6? It's continued success speaks for itself. Not that I want to get into one of those "My friends say such and such" debates. I'm sure both of us will get different answers.
-"Yes, and Superman Returns isn't one of those kind of movies because ... ?"
Simply because everything I hear about SR isn't related to some mindless action sequence. X3 sounds like block after block of action scenes from every description I've seen thus far. The most common negative comment about SR is it's apparent lack of action scenes.
-"And have extra competitors in the race for making a movie a blockbuster ? I don't think so, Marvel was smart releasing the film early."
What extra competitors? The bottom line is the movie would have been better which is all I or anyone should really care about? I don't think anyone here is going to tell me Brett Ratner is a better director than Bryan Singer and nobody call tell me Ratner will finish that trilogy better than Singer would have.

How so? Hulk, DD, and Electra were all pretty bad. Batman, Constantine, and V for Vendetta were better. FF was ok, Spidey flicks are overrated, but good money makers, and X-men were the only truly well done movies out of the bunch.
It's too early to tell with Superman returns, but with all the Smallville fans, parents, and Superman fans...I'm sure it will open quite strong. It's too early to tell with WW and Captain Marvel, but I wouldn't count them out. What I REALLY want is a well done GL movie....now THAT would be awesome.
My friends and i consider Superman being one of the most boring characters, sure we all watched the reruns of Lois and Clark, but in comics this is a boring character. He is practically immortal except shown to cryptonite. Well, half of his enemies don't even have cryptonite so he battles them but he is letting them win because he could beat them anytime ? And frankly said, i just don't like the new actor of Superman, he's too young and he isn't as self confident as superman would have to look. His penis was too big (really true) so they had to make it smaller with the computer. Haha.
