There is a reason why they went from being the worst to being the best. How many people were on that team last year that were on that team 2 years ago? I'm not going to look at past situations to determine how the Saints will do, I'm looking at the fact that they have Brees, Bush, Duece, Colston, Henderson, etc...

And they drafted a WR so they are looking to be one of the best offenses in the league.

But I see what you are saying but you just have to look at the real reason why that team was good last year.

They'll be good, no doubt about it. I just dont think they're the top teams in the NFC.

Last year, they're offense was great with unexpected Bree's having an great year, coming from an massive injury, Duece came back from a big year, and Colston coming out of nowhere. The defense exceeded expactations, especially from the journeyman LB crew.

This year, teams will be ready for them, especially Colston because I hate to say it, but he will be the number 1 WR and defense coordinators will know that he can play. I think that's going to hurt them because he will be doubled covered all the time. That might hurt the offense. Drafting Meachem doesnt necessarily mean he will make the offense better, and wont have the experience Joe Horn as. Losing him will hurt them.

They'll do good but they're not automatic as top contenders. Like most teams, they do have weaknesses and last year, as you said it, doesnt mean shit.

Bears release Tank Johnson.

CHICAGO (June 25, 2007) -- Tank Johnson was released by the Chicago Bears, who are "embarrassed" by the defensive tackle's legal troubles and say he "compromised the credibility" of the team.

Johnson was waived three days after he was pulled over by police in Arizona. He already had been suspended for the first eight games of the 2007 season for violating probation on a gun charge. He spent two months in jail and was released in May.

"We are upset and embarrassed by Tank's actions last week," general manager Jerry Angelo said in a statement. "He compromised the credibility of our organization. We made it clear to him that he had no room for error. Our goal was to help someone through a difficult period in his life, but the effort needs to come from both sides. It didn't, and we have decided to move on."

Police in the Phoenix suburb of Gilbert said Johnson was stopped for driving 40 mph in a 25 mph zone at 3:30 a.m. Friday and the officer made observations that led him to believe Johnson was impaired.

Sgt. Andrew Duncan, a police spokesman, said Johnson was arrested for "DUI Impaired to the Slightest Degree" but was released without being booked or charged.

Duncan said Johnson was taken to the Gilbert police station, where officials drew blood for a blood-alcohol content test before his release. He described Johnson as "very cooperative."

Test results aren't expected for up to two weeks, and they would be sent to Gilbert town prosecutors for consideration of any charges.

Johnson had called his suspension an "opportunity for me to move forward." NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell had said the suspension could be reduced to six games if Johnson had no further involvement with law enforcement and underwent counseling.

"A lot of people within our organization gave extra time and energy to support Tank: players, coaches and our front office," Bears coach Lovie Smith said in a statement. "We did our best to establish an environment for him to move forward. Ultimately, Tank needed to live up to his side of the deal."

Last December, police raided the 300-pound defensive tackle's suburban Chicago home and found six unregistered firearms -- a violation of his probation on an earlier gun charge.

That charge stemmed from Johnson's 2005 arrest after a Chicago nightclub valet reported seeing Johnson with a handgun in his SUV. He subsequently pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge.

Two days after last December's raid, Willie B. Posey, Johnson's bodyguard, was shot and killed in an early morning fight while he and Johnson were at a Chicago nightclub.

Johnson was suspended by the Bears for one game for being at the club. He played in the Super Bowl as the Bears lost to Indianapolis.

In March, Johnson began his two-month jail stint and during his time he was visited by numerous teammates and members of the Bears staff.

Last month, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor weapons charge stemming from the December raid as part of a deal with prosecutors that kept him from serving more time in jail. He was ordered to serve 45 days, which he served concurrently with the sentence for violating his probation.

Yeah, he thinks he's just goin to do it all like at USC, but the NFL is way different, way more competition, better defense, he'll turn back around.

He came into his own at the end of the year. That game against the 49ers was his coming out party, he scored in every single game after that except one.

Because he is playing with Tom Brady and isn't a rookie.

I want to agree because Lord Evo is right. He is playing with Brady, but Brady is the type of QB that throws to everybody on the team while Kitna will try to throw to Johnson all the time.

Brady might actually hurt his numbers. But I dont really know, and I really dont care.

One thing for sure, Patriots are serious contenders, but also serious ****ups if Moss does his usually crying.

For a second I thought this CJ was Chad Jackson, who does have Brady throwing to him. 'Course at GT, we always knew CJ to be Calvin Johnson, so I don't know why I would think that. 😬

cj will get a lot of balls. him and roy will see most of the action in detroit. i wonder iof kitna will have more sacks though, then either has catches . . . 🙁

kitna saying the lions will win more than 10 games has -- once again -- made them a laughing stock. not that they have ever been anything else in 50 years. can anyone imagine being as bad at their job as matt millen is at his and not only getting to KEEP said job, but getting an extension?? 😑

the lions are more than FIFTY games under .500 since he took over. it is a testament to the lions ineptitude that boggles the mind. shock

and i'll go out on a limb and say quinn gets more wins. oakland has a decent d, but cleveland is very solid and with thomas in there too, they'll have the playoffs this year. unless russell is a miracle worker, the raiders will prolly still suck.

Cleveland's defense and building turnstiles don't have many differences. McGinest should be embarrassed for going there, and Wimbley isn't as good as many think. This is a defense that gave up a franchise-record 223 yards rushing to Willie Parker last December. Their offense is going to need to score a lot of points. At least 80 per game, but they should probably shoot for 100 just to be safe.

Is Quinn even going to start in his first year?

I would be surprised if they didn't have Frye in for week 1. Being a Steelers fan, I would rather have the rookie in there, but that's not my call. However, I would expect Quinn to work his way in ala Vince Young of last year.

Maybe even steal ROY too?

Speaking of ROY, who do you guys think will win it on the offensive side?

I got either Adrian Peterson or Dwayne Jarrett.

If the Browns rush for 2,000 yards as a team, why not give it to Joe Thomas? Hell, just let a lineman get it for a change.

Oh, yeah, I forgot. They're the Browns, so Thomas will probably injure his knee in preseason. Never mind.

I'd say Peterson right off the top of my head, but I haven't really given it much thought.
