I saw that too. Cowboys are the team to beat now.

Well...in 4 games at least, when everyone returns.

Reminds me of the Yankees. It's just going to be even funnier when they lose. 😛

Nice. Look forward to seeing how this works. Might take a few games before he's the starter.

you really think he makes that big a difference? Crayton and Austin have played well, granted Roy is MUCH better than either but they have a #1 WR, and a TE who is the QB's go to guy and a great run game. I really dont think another big WR was the missing piece here.

That is such crap.

How so? He was given the ultimate second chance in life and was told absolute 0 tolerance. He also may of violated his Parole with law enforcement so this might be the least of his worries.

He didn't violate his parole because no one pressed charges, not the hotel and not the police who arrived. Being that it was nothing he got in trouble for (not with law enforcement or his team), then it should have ended right there.

I wonder if Roy Williams coming in will make T.O. happy or more mad than ever before

He may not have gotten charges pressed against him but he did violate the terms that Goodell set forth to him.

Holy crap! I just heard the price. A 1st, 3rd, and 6th? I didnt think it would help them that much before but now damn him and TO better get 10+ TD's and 1,000+ yards each or this was terrible. Lions made a GREAT deal.

So why is Matt Jones allowed to play football under Goodell's Code of Conduct policy?

I think they did it because the Cowboys feel they are ready for the Super Bowl now and will worry about rebuilding later. I agree that it was a great deal for the Lions. They can do a lot of things in the draft now. Hopefully they'll get a smart GM who can do something with them.

Both Lions and Cowboys made a great deal.

And of course bringing in a top 5-10 receiver will help Dallas out. Before Jones got suspended, that was their only glaring weak spot, and has been for a while now. This move will work wonders for the Dallas offense. It will open things up for T.O....no more double coverage. It will open things up for Witten and Barber/Felix Jones. They have no more weak spots on their offense, because Crayton, Hurd and Austin were nothing but glorified slot receivers, playing the #2 spot. Now they get to play at their natural positions.

I just hope Dallas extends Williams, I don't think Jerry gives that much up for a receiver who can walk at the end of the season.

Edit**

Just saw that they signed him through 2013.

Well they do have a weak spot, QB is gone for 4 weeks and the line is playing like shit.

I'm looking at it 50/50. A good deal because they dont really need a first rounder this year due to the fact that most of the players are pretty young anyways. Also, it gives Dallas a good WR once TO is done.

The problem is that I dont think it will make any difference this year because I cannot see TO getting along with Williams when he takes catches away.

Actually, Jerry called T.O. after he spoke to Roy Williams, and Owens said he was ecstatic about the deal. I can't believe this has to be said again, but, T.O. just wants to win. Besides, this move actually helps Owens out. Don't think for a second he wont be getting more passes, more catchable passes thrown his way, now that Roy Williams will be taking some of the heat off of him. This deal makes the Cowboys the clear cut favorites...again. Owens will be happy.

About the Pacman thing.

I understand that he should not be allowed any leniency but he got into a fight with his bodyguard. No charges were laid by anyone. Nothing criminally wrong with it. Just a fight with somebody. It happens. I wonder how many times a football players beats up his wife in the NFL?

He shouldn't be suspended for that. He clearly did just because he is Pacman Jones. Anybody else, nothing would of happened, including most of the players who have been suspended before.

I dont understand how Nick Kaczur doesnt get any suspension, or how Matt Jones is not suspended. But with Jones, gets in a fight, a week later is suspended for more than 4 games.

Lord Evo, have you been watching any Dallas games? With Romo, they are clearly underachieving and one WR wont make the line, or Romo play better.

It was Goodell's code to PACMAN himself. It was like one of the conditions that he was reinstated into the league on. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Goodell did not have to reinstate Pacman into the league.

It wont help the line, but it will sure as hell help Romo just for the sheer fact that Owens wont be seeing double teams. You are essentially saying that adding one of the best receivers in the league wont help out one of the best QB's. I know you are a Debbie Downer some times, but come on! Why do you think Romo has been playing like crap? His #1 receiver has been getting smothered, and his #2 and slot receivers have been invisible. So he's just been completing passes to his check down back and Witten. Williams changes everything.

No, he didn't have to reinstate him into the league. I'm not expecting special treatment for Pacman. I would have expected Goodell to do that with any player. From what I've read, the only special stipulation regarding Pacman possibility getting suspended again was him violating his parole. He hasn't done that.

I think its a good move for next year, or the year afterwords. I dont think it will help this year.

yes if pacman had no history there would have been no suspension but the big kicker on him getting reinstated was that he gets in NO trouble. It was made very very clear that any trouble at all will not be tolerated. From what I heard on ESPN it sounded as if they said one of the major things was also because he was fighting while he was drinking and that incidents involving alcohol were a big "no, no"

The guy clearly doesn't learn or give a shit about being in the NFL.

LE how can you say WR was the cowboys biggest weakness? They have had no issue at WR this year. Felix and barber were both good out of the backfield, they have the best TE in the league right now, one of the top 5 WR's in the league and 2 solid guys playing in the 2/3 role stepping up big for them.

Like I said, Hurd, Crayton and Austin are glorified slot receivers. And they have been anything but solid this season. Dallas didn't have a reliable #2 receiver before Williams. If you look at their receiver numbers outside of Owens, you'll see what I mean. And last time I checked, neither Witten, Barber or Jones are receivers. Not having a consistent offense has been their problem this season, and they pretty good at every skill position besides receiver, until now. You'll see, when they are healthy, I predict them to average 35+ ppg.
