Hahahaha.

Have you checked the NBA thread lately?

I think Guy and Bruce are the same person.

No, but I just did. Wow, I do believe you're right.
For starters, "both" of them forget to put periods at the end of their statements.

And both are Lakers fans.....

Both registered 1 day apart.
Both have the same type of B-day (late 60's)

I give Lord Evo credit, when he does contribute to the thread, he at least gives us some sort of comment that's worthwhile, even though I generally disagree.

seems Ben Roethlisberger is a rapist...

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/07/20/roethlisberger-denies-civil-allegations-of-sexual-assault/

i hope this isn't true

Sounds like crap to me and I hate Big Ben. I really really wish they would put out a new law that reads something like if you accuse someone of rape and are found to be lying you get the same punishment a rapist would get.

Well, it theory, maybe, but in reality no.

If that was the case and the jury/judge gives a non guilty plea then it would decrease the amount of woman who tell people that they got raped.

As usual, I agree with two of the three of you. Guess who those two are...

The national media hasn't even picked up on the story yet. All the national links cite profootballtalk.com, which has as much credibility as my left nutsack. When a real media outlet runs a real story, I'll take the woman's case seriously. Sexual assault is a serious matter, but lying about sexual assault is just as bad. Whether the allegations are true or not, the "perpetrator" is trying to ruin someone's life.

But if, if, if it does become a big matter, I wonder if the same people that sided with Kobe will side with Ben. Or vice versa. I know it's a different scenario (Kobe is married and Ben isn't, for one thing), but in the Kobe case, too many people IMO cast their judgment on the case for reasons that had little to do with actual facts and more to do with their love/hate opinion of Kobe.

Yea I know and thats the reason it would never happen. Just sucks because simply being accused of something like this can really screw someone over.

I have seen it first hand with a buddy of mine in college. he was suspended for a semester and banned from living on campus after that for being falsely accused of something like this. Sad part is he brought it on himself trying to do the right thing. A bunch of us were out at a club he danced with this girl (who was friends with a girl who was there with us) blah blah blah no biggy at some point he made a move on her she said she had a boyfriend he backed off story over. Except her boyfriend found out about it and so rather than tell him the truth she tells her boyfriend that he was harassing her and forcing himself all over her and all this crap. So her boyfriend comes over to this guys apartment to talk to him hes like ok sure ill talk to you. Rather then talk he sucker punches him isntead eventually the BF got his ass kicked regardless though (shouldnt sucker punch someone 10 feet from 5 of their friends.)

So then this dude just keeps calling him over and over threatening him and all this all because his girlfriend is some bimbo thats scared of her boyfriend. So my buddy goes to the campus police and is like look this is what is going on he already tried to fight me once he keeps calling blah blah trying to end it before the guy just gets his ass kicked again and he gets in trouble. So they contact the guy and tells them all about how he was doing it because my friend tried to rape his GF so they ask her she says yea its true and just like thrown out of school for rest of the semester and off campus for life.

Shitty. I feel bad for the kid.

As for Ben, eventually the truth comes out. You rarely see a sport player/star get caught for harassment if it was not warranted because they have money to actually fight it.

Insecure pricks like the BF in forum's story shouldn't let their GF's go clubbing without them. They're not strong enough to handle any emotional repercussions. I'll bet the BF was bugging her constantly the next day, saying sh*t like "Did some guy hit on you? Did you sleep with anyone at the club? You know you did. Admit it. You kissed some guy, didn't you. WAAAAAAA!"

In non-NFL, professional football news, the UFL will be releasing team names and uniforms the first week of August. And just so I can say "I named a team" ahead of time, here were my entries for the 4 markets (I had others for Hartford, Monterrey, Salt Lake City, and L.A., but not sure on status of those markets).

Orlando Squall
Orlando Uprising
Orlando Scorchers
Orlando Carltons (work term submitted with a bunch of co-workers around my desk)
Las Vegas Vengeance
Las Vegas Losers
Las Vegas Crappers
San Francisco Flywheels (work term submitted with a bunch of co-workers around my desk)
New York Dragonfire

I really, really got a good feeling about Orlando Uprising....which probably means that it will end up being the Orlando Killer Whales or something lame like that...

JP Losman is the biggest NFL name to sign so far I think.

Are they playing during the NFL season?

The UFL is taking a different approach to win over football fans. Initially plans were to have 6 to 8 teams, but as of now there are 4 teams to play in 7 cities: Las Vegas/Los Angeles, New York/Hartford, Orlando, and San Francisco/Sacramento. The idea is to build the UFL slowly, instead of the “in your face” business plan the XFL failed with. For the 2009 season, players cut by NFL teams in late August will be pursued to ink one-year deals with the UFL, and they won’t be permitted to play in the NFL until the UFL season ends. Beyond that, however, the door could be open for the UFL and the NFL to forge a partnership.

To drop familiar names for people to get into the opening season, the league has named it’s first four coaches: Jim Fassel, Ted Cottrell, Jim Haslett, and Dennis Green. The UFL looks to be a Thursday/Friday night event this coming fall. "

Sounds like maybe they are hoping to become a farm club/developmental league kind of thing for the NFL.

If that's the case, then it could be a great idea.

In hockey, they have junior leagues, get drafted, can still play in those leagues until 21, then play AHL, then go on to NHL.

Even though football is different and draft people out college, it can still be the case. For example, somebody does not get drafted in the NFL, get picked up in the UFL, then does well, gets picked up by the NFL. Look at Warner and Tommy Maddox.

The only is that it could hurt the CFL alot more than a football team in Toronto. Fans of the CFL should be more worried about the UFL than a Toronto team (which will happen, hopefully as an expansion)

Brett made a good decision today

No comeback with the Vikings

Jim Johnson passed away today at the age of 68.

It is a shame the "breaking news" everywhere is that Favre will not play and not this. And this comes from someone who was a big Favre fan and hates the Eagles.

Yeah, I just lost respect for you. You like Favre....just kidding.

Yeah, its pretty bad. I never knew he had cancer.

Jim Johnson is a legend.

Jim Johnson and Dick LeBeau - THE Defensive Coordinators of the last 10+ years. Period.

RIP. I had a lot of respect for Jim Johnson. Last year in week 3, his defensive schemes completely embarrassed the eventual Super Bowl XLIII champs.

Forget the UFL...

I actually watched a video talking to the QB/Captain of the Philly team and showing some of their practice it does at least look like they are putting real effort in to look like they have some idea what they are doing, plus they are really hot. I would watch this, more importantly I could coach this... hmmm where to put in a resume.
