Final Fantasy XIII

Don't worry, leonheartmm, FF13 is in no danger of making you feel like you're in an open-ended sandbox.

Got this game today, oh man! It starts off pretty slow and boring, but after two/three hours it's amazing. The combat is the best out of all the Final Fantasies so far, no doubt about it.

I agree!

The game is looks phenomenal as well! The art-design and graphics are top-notch.

So I don't know why it did such a bad job on the reviews, because so far I'm loving it.

Picked it up today, it's neat.

First impressions: It's teh sex.

I can't help but be reminded of FFX when I play this game, which is a good thing. Actually it gives me vibes of every ff game.

I can't take that as anything but a good thing. My opinion on FFX should be well-known by now.

I picked up the game last night (for free - my manager paid it off for me as a late birthday present), just haven't had the time to pop it in and start yet.

I want it so bad!

I know exactly what your talking about!

The amount of cut scenes, the way the characters interact, the combat partially is all similar to Final Fantasy X. Nice music too!

It's just way too cheesy at times.

Okay, I definitely have to say.

This game is so amazingly pretty. Lightning has broken my usual dislike of the main lead of FF games (that girl is ****ing Queen Badass, I love her). The battle system I still have some doubts about but largely I like how it works so far. The music is awesome.

And I am definitely getting that FFX feel from it as well. It's just got something about it that, while playing, I've only ever associated with FFX.

It is an amazing world. One of my favorite things about FFX was the how beautiful and well developed the world was. Caccoon and Pulse are on the same path. Most of the time I find myself just standing still and moving the camera to catch the little details in the environment. It is as pretty as the landscapes/environments of Prince of Persia(I found the water painting landscape was phenomenal)

I agree about Lightning. That chick is one badass mama.

Is it just me or is the camera really annoying?

So being not at all familiar with the FF universe anymore, how is this connected to all the other games? What makes this a "Final Fantasy" game rather then just another good JRPG?

It's not connected to the other games - they almost never are. At least not through the main series itself.

So looking past the title, there's nothing making this Final Fantasy? No common theme like same belief-systems etc? I think I remember something about Gaia in Advent Children etc.

Is it turn based or like "crisis core?"

Gotta wait another month for my birthday to get this. Ugh.
