No More Lengthy Cut Scenes For Metal Gear

Description
The one annoying thing about the brilliantly designed Metal Gear Solid 4, is its overreliance on lengthy cut scenes. In fact it has been that way since the series' beginning, but luckily for us the game's designer Hideo Kojima has finally decided to change that in the next sequel.

"Gameplay is always fundamental", Hideo Kojima said. "Halo, BioShock - I see their approach and I think they are brilliant in some ways, but I still feel they still lack a kind of a deeper storyline or the expression of the feelings of the characters. I do have plans of how I should approach this and get around it."

"In MGS4, yes, I put everything in the cut sequences, which I kind of regret to some extent", he admitted. "Because maybe there is a new approach which I should think about. I'm always thinking about it - making it interactive but at the same time telling the story part and the drama even more emotionally. I would like to take that approach, which I am still working on."

"Storytelling is very difficult. But adding the flavor helps to relay the storytelling, meaning in a cutscene, with a set camera and effects, you can make the users feel sorrow, or make them happy or laugh - this is an easy approach, which we have been doing."

"That is one point, the second point is that if I make multiple storylines and allow the users to select which story, this might really sacrifice the deep emotion the user might feel; when there's a concrete storyline, and you kind of go along that rail, you feel the destiny of the story, which at the end, makes you feel more moved. But when you make it interactive - if you want multiple stories where you go one way or another - will that make the player more moved when he or she finishes the game? These two points are really the key which I am thinking about, and if this works, I think I could probably introduce a more interactive storytelling method."

I keep hearing rumor that MGS4 is coming to the Xbox 360. Is that true?

No.

am i the only one who thinks that Hideo is going to make MGS5 cuz of more deaththreats.......the way he got them for MGS3 and MGS4 😆

seriously speaking, i think there's only so much time that can pass by before the world will ask for more Snakes.

maybe, Snake will be the badguy for Rambo5 😆

Hideo Kojima recetly stated in an interview that he seriously wants people to stop asking for it. The chances are nearly impossible, since MGS4 was built from the ground up to be optimized specifically for the PS3.

I believe he also said it he chose to keep it exclusive to Sony even though they didnt pay for exclusivity, because he felt that the success of Metal Gear was intertwined with the sony playstation name, something like that. fyi.

But yet it also started out on the nintendo.........

hey ask Kojima okay?

How the heck can there be a MGS5? Snake is done fighting and he said so in the game.

Knowing Kojima he'll find a way to continue the games.

Capcom said that Dead Rising was only for the 360 and they moved the game onto the Wii system so I wouldn't be suprised if Konami does move MGS4 to the 360.

Nope, it started out on a computer system. I think it was called MSX or something like that.

My bad

Solid snake looks like Michael Biehn on the game cover for that one.

I finally finished getting my last 2 emblems... my collection is now complete...

*Phew...*

Raiden anyone?

That, or ughhh Johnny. Which I feel would look like a cheap ripoff of Snake.

They could do a prequel, that seems to be the only option left now that just about every Snake is dead.

But I've been hearing rumors about an update to MGS4 that adds an extra cutscene after the credits and those with pirated versions of the game can't get this update.

I've heard about those rumors as well. It has something to do with the voice of God that can be heard during the Psycho mantis ordeal if I'm not mistaken.

The voice of God during the Mantis cutscene? What in the world are you talking about?
