Actually, Kid Icarus did get a sequel on the Game Boy. So two relatively old games.
Gah! Wikipedia lied to me then 😛 (yeah. I know it's not that reliable).

The ironic thing is Kid Icarus was released alongside Metroid, made by the same person, and was often sold together with it.
Ah yes. Gunpei Yokoi. The guy was a legend. He also created the original Game Boy, Mr. Game & Watch (who was added as a character to Melee in his honor), and what not (sadly though, he died in a car wreck 🙁)...
In any case, I wonder why it went like that (about the Kid Icarus series not living up to Metroid's popularity, even though it went along with the first 2 games of Metroid in the same genre).
Maybe people didn't like the power-ups, levels, bosses, or something in Kid Icarus as much as they did in Metroid? I don't know...
But it kinda makes me wonder what it would've been like had there been a SNES game for Kid Icarus, though I somehow doubt it would've outshined the glory that was (and still is) Super Metroid...

...because the developers decided to put all their attention on making Metroid even better?
But why wouldn't they have done the same for Kid Icarus? The 2 series was made by the same person after all, as General Kaliero pointed out.

Err, that was kind of uncalled for... sadwalk

I was just playing around there. Not really sad. Nice reaction to it though. 😛

Well yeah, I get that other characters would have an advantage over others...that was kind of the point....It's still something to think about. I still find it interesting.
Hmm. Yeah. I guess that's true...

Charizard? Really?
Yes. Really.

Don't get me wrong...I'd still like to see him in the game....he's just not a top priority for me ahora mismo. I'm sure you can contribute this feeling to how Mewtwo was presented in Melee.
Yeah. I can contribute to that feeling too...
It's because of how he was presented in Melee though that I'm hoping he'll be back, more versatile than ever ✅ (and for HAL Laboratory/the Smash team to make up for their mistake on the EXTREME flaws they gave to Mewtwo's speed and moveset).
One of the most powerful creatures that ever lived in the Pokemon anime/manga (as well as the RPG games) being the weakest character (arguably even worse than Pichu) in Melee? Uh uh. That doesn't cut it.

The cool thing is that a forum like this is a pretty good representation of people on the whole. So look just around in here: How many are as freakishly obsessed with Pokemon as you are? Now expand that for a fairly accurate assessment of the whole.
Yeah...
I like Pokemon. It's still one of my favorite series and all. There was even a time where I could name all of the first 151 Pokemon in order (without pausing or anything), but if I was ever obsessed with it like InnerRise, I'd probably be afraid of myself. wounded2
No offense of course.
Don't know about you InnerRise, but all Pokemon all the time isn't my cup of tea. 😛

Yep. Just like poor Wolf 🙁...

I still like an idea I had a while back where you'd be able to play as a Pokemon and evolve in battle, whether automatically or manually. Doesn't look like that's going to happen, but that would have definitely been grand.
Heh. That makes me wonder what it would've been like if (while playing as the Pokemon Trainer) you were able to evolve the Ivysaur into a Venusaur and the Squirtle into a Warturtle, and then into a Blastoise.
Getting to play as Charizard, Venusaur, and Blastoise at the same time would've been... blowup
