The same could be said about all game series (or series in general). They all have things about them that never change (in Pokemon's case, most of the creatures only being able to say their own name).
If that's the only thing you're holding against Pokemon, might as well hold it against every other franchise as well. 😬

A couple in Melee may have been 2D sprites (I think Mew was), but most of these had full models that looked better than what was shown today. I mean, just look at Suicune's decal eyes.
I don't really mind it, as I'll be turning Pokeballs off as soon as I can, but given the quality of the rest of the game you'd think they'd at least pull the models and textures from Battle Revolution or something.

I eh, think they did use the models & textures from Battle Revolution when they showed Groudon though (way back from one of the earliest updates), but I could be wrong of course.
