Oh my god, all the stages have horizontal floors and platforms, backgrounds, and music! The developers are so lazy! SSBB is dead to me and I hate it and everything about it! I'll still buy it and play it a ton, but I will hate every second of it!

😆 😆 😆

That's what all the complainers sound like to me.

They're wasting their money then....... >_<

@ the last 3 posts: Meh. To each his own, I guess.

I was planning on maining Ganondorf if he had gotten a revamped moveset (with his sword and what not), but since he's a clone again, he'll just be 1 less character for me to use when playing the game.

I can understand being disappointed in the characters, but for someone to say "its dead to me", thats just talking out of their ass. If you played and enjoyed Melee(and if you care that much, you probably played a lot) you will play and enjoy Brawl. They have taken nothing away and added and entire games worth of new content.

So you will never, ever play as a clone? Even if it has traits that you like better then the original?

Oh, people will always find something to complain about, no worries there.

They don't seem to realize that no one is making them buy the game, and that generally when a company hits on a good formula, they're not going to be making many changes.

No, because clones are just an example of the makers lazieness, instead of taking the time to think up a new moveset, they just slap another character's on.

I am especially angry about Ganondorf being a clone. He has shown a diverse range of powers in the games, and they make him a frickin Captain Falcon clone.

...do you want this game coming out this decade?

Uh huh. Because me, I used Ganon way more in melee then I used Falcon. I like his feel better. Stronger and slower.

Because a moveset would indeed take a decade. 😉

Do you have any idea how much work goes into programming the littlest thing in a game?

Making completely individual movesets for every single character would greatly delay the making even further as that will cause a domino effect on just about every other aspect of the game that would then need to be checked to see how everything balances out. It's not as simple as just "oh, make him do this!".

Now that I'm working toward a degree to design games, I love how no one thinks about the fact these games have a budget and a strict set of deadlines, and the designers get paid for their time. The idea people have to think up all the movesets. The character designers have to work out how each move looks. The texture artists have to debug the UV maps when a position warps the skin. The animators have to either do mocap (which includes hiring stunt actors) or animate by hand (many, MANY man-hours of drudgery). The foley artists and voice actors have to produce all those swishes, grunts, smacks, and battle cries.

Oh yeah, there's programming there too. New code to write, hundreds if not thousands of lines of it, and if there's a single fault in any line that has to be found and edited, and then you try again hoping that was the only issue, and it never is.

There is a lot of work here, guys, and only so much money and time can be poured into a single game before execs start to worry.

Still wouldn't take a decade. 😎

JK, I do realise that the game would have to be delayed, but IMO, it would be worth it.

I didn't actually say it would take a decade, though. I asked if you'd like the game out this decade. Go look at a calendar and see what year it is - decade ends in two years 😛 A game could easily be delayed that long trying to create, program, and debug all of that stuff. Just look at how long Brawl's been delayed already - it's been in production for YEARS.

I doubt it would take two whole years either, but if that is what it took, then yes. 😄

Read my edit and GK's post. It could easily take an extra two years.

That depends.

Ganondorf's traits (jumping ability, etc.) are much worse than Captain Falcon's, so I see no reason to have Ganon be one of my main characters if they didn't improve him from Melee at all.

But since Wolf is a new character (although a clone), I suppose I'll make an exception for him, regardless if his traits are better than Fox's or not.

Clones can't be a "good formula" if the majority never liked them to begin with. 😬 That was the main complaint people had against Melee after all, so having clones in Brawl as well doesn't really paint a good image.

I suppose de-cloning some of the characters (like Falco) would've been a little too hard/time-consuming, but having Ganondorf as a clone again is just inexcusable. Did they forget about Ganon's sword and all those things he had in the LoZ games? Ganondorf's moveset could've been easily revamped.

Honestly, if it wasn't too late for them to re-do the whole Brawl roster, I'd be willing to wait another couple/few years for the game to come out.

Unlike most people, I actually have the patience to wait for things (that, and I have other good games and other stuff to keep me busy).

I dont think Nintendo could wait any longer, this and Mario Kart are the only real must have games this year.

Yeah (as far as Nintendo goes)...

Maybe it's just me, but the Wii's predecessors (Gamecube, N64, etc.) had so many more good games to choose from.

I mean, sure. The Wii's had some good games so far, such as Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy, but it's still lacking in other areas, seeing as how they haven't even announced a Star Fox game for the Wii yet, among other things.

I guess the Wii won't have much more interesting things to offer after Brawl and Mario Kart come out. 😬

On a side note, lol. Something to be careful for when playing Brawl.

😛
