The Battle Bar, Our Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy

Meh, I enjoy gaming. There are far worse past-times, and I'm a productive member of society, so nay-sayers can eat it. As for me, I spent a good deal of coin last year building my rig:

- AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor Black Edition
- SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 5830 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
- Asus M4A79XTD EVO motherboard
- G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3
- Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA HD
- Razer Abyssus USB Wired Optical 3500 dpi High Precision Gaming Mouse

Very informative, thanks. I wasn't even thinking about that. It's sad when you buy computers specifically for gaming and you're close to your 30s.
You are such a ****ing *******, do you know that? 😂

I got a brand new setup specifically for TOR -_-
8 GB DDR3 RAM
Intel i5 2500k Quad Core Processor
1 TB Hard Drive
NVIDIA GTX 560 Ti

Intel/NVIDIA builds were too expensive for my budget, but I'm quite content, tbh. I can upgrade RAM for very cheap, and my proccy and Vid card are still well above recommended for all current games. And I don't run anything higher than 1280 x 1024. I can run DX HR with all settings enabled (Even DX11) with no FPS issues.

Fvck all of you and are your fancy GPU. I've been going hardcore with my bad@ss Intel HD integrated graphics card on my laptop for the last year lmao...

And I've managed to play Dragon Age and half of Mass Effect, as well as other games, on it.

Integrated? Laptop?

Dude, I'm so sorry.

Aye, I needed a laptop for college. And well...the old man didn't think buying online was viable, so when he saw the Office Depot sale, he went ahead and bought me the laptop. It's not bad, mind you, and it came quite cheap, but it's not for gaming whatsoever.

I'm kinda amazed at how I've managed to play games in decent settings, though there are moments when there is extreme lag. I just minimize the game or shut the lid to rectify that.

I concur with his condolences.

With the exeption of evil Alien laptops, I wouldn't game on any laptop. Gaming rigs are always best made as desktops.

Aye, I agree.

I might have to get a new laptop though since the one I'm using now has 'worsened' over the year.

I'm on a tight budget, but I could be able to buy a laptop with an AMD Radeon 6650 from newegg under 700 bucks. That will at least let me play Skyrim couple months from now.

However, this is not confirmed. In which case I'm stuck with Intel HD till 11/11/11 atm. 🙁

I enjoy gaming but things change once you get engaged and then married. Women do not understand gaming or gamers. Anyways, I had the Phenom II X4 955 last year and it ran beautifully for games like Crysis and Crysis II, but I decided I wanted something that would play anything for the next 5+ years and you can't go wrong with an I7 2600, 18 gig ram, gaming beast. Add the GTX 260 and you're set.

You are such a ****ing *******, do you know that?

I was referring to myself, numbnuts.

That looks adequate. Just keep the resolution below 1280 x 1024 and you should be able to run mostly max settings, maybe sacrificing AA now and then.

Wives. Expensive way of getting sex and laundry done for free. But I won't hate too much; I could be in a similar situation soon, who knows?

Uh, I'm getting closer to 30 and I buy computers solely for gaming? I believe that was stated in my initial post?

Well, I'm engaged, not married for another 10 months but already I foresee a problem with me gaming throughout my days as she goes to work. Somehow I don't think she's going to find that acceptable.

Wives and sex are counterintuitive from what I gather. 😬

Ya, the 6650 is able to play Crysis on high, I believe. So it should theoretically be able to play Skyrim on relatively good setting, IMO.

I can tolerate a slight lag if the visuals are better.

Especially for your and your "life partner."

Well then he's technically not my wife, then is he? 😬

Man, I feel so young. Not to mention, I look like I'm 16 😕
