I was thinking of making a thread about this, but it would probably get closed so anyway, what do you all think about a SWVF debating tournament? We could have 5 judges, rules such as no flaming etc. and whoever wins gets the title of King (or Queen) of Star Wars Debating, or something cooler if anyone can think of something.

Firstly, it's a cool idea I'll admit. However, there's no possible way you'd ever find five impartial "judges", let alone mature and knowledgable enough ones. Secondly, it would probably get closed down, and you can't really have a tournament based off versus matches because you don't know if participants x or y would agree that character a beats b or not - so if they did agree, it'd leave no match.

Probably a near impossible thing to set up.

Well we could have two - Rex and Ush. If we were to get it mod approved, I think it could possibly work.

And how are you going to have people "debate" on versus matches they might all agree on? Remember when I challenged you to a debate? We both had agreements Grievous would beat Maul.

It would hardly be a problem. We could first select who goes against who. Let's say for the purpose of the example I get matched up against you. We could likely 'negotiate' here a perfect match up which is both relatively close and also one in which we don't agre on, for example Ulic Quel-Droma versus Kyle Katarn. I take it you would pick Kyle right? Well I would pick Ulic, and that's how it would work. We could also have Vader versus Revan for Jim and Zephiel for instance, Ragnos versus Palpatine for Sexy and Lightsnake, Windu versus Dooku etc. I'm pretty sure it could work.

Also Rex, a tournament like this would be perfect for the SWVF because the rules would insure that the debating stayed civil for instance (well in theory), it would make the posting much more active and make the forum generally funner and more interesting imo.

And you'll match up debaters accordingly, right? Not like myself against, for example, a Numan-like debater.

Well if say we were to have four rounds (final, semi, quarter, Ist round), we wouldn't be able to match you up against say Escape or Nai or someone like that on the first round because that would just lead to a dull final.

Anyways, you get in debates with people who aren't as good as you all the time, they're still interesting and fun to watch.

Maybe even 5 rounds, 16 people sounds about right.

I would join in on that, sounds like fun. I'm probably not even i nthe top 30 memebrs here in terms of debating skill, but sounds fun never-the-less.

Well you never know, perhaps you are. I've never actually seen you debate before, so you could be uber. Anyways I'm just hoping Rex approves the idea.

Dude, my school year starts tomorrow. I am taking all advanced classes, I don't have much time to debate with someone. Plus I have other things besides school I have to go to (lessons, etc.)
