[B]Not a terrible problem to have, to be frank.
I guess if you don't want to go college, sure. As it stands, unless I want to get a loan through a private org like you said, it won't be possible for me to attend a university until I'm 25. The whole idea behind the concept of barring someone from financial aid due to their parents' income is flawed, because it doesn't take into account the possibility that just because the parents have a high salary that doesn't necessarily mean they can afford to send the kid to college.
Case in point, my parents are divorced and I pay 3/4ths of my Mom's bills, including the rent. If I didn't work full time we'd have been evicted by now. My Dad owes like 70,000 to the IRS and lives from paycheck to paycheck, usually borrowing about 200 bucks from me a month.
So, the fact that they have a combined income of like 140K a year is irrelevant, in that sense. Which is frustrating. I can't get a loan to pay for school because they make too much money, and yet my parents can't pay for my tuition because they're horrible money managers, and what's even worse, I can't even quit my job because my Mom depends on that extra income. Where does that leave me? Up the creek. /rant
