I like their absurdity. There are plenty of bands out there who just stick to... regular, I guess you could say... rock. One more rock anthem is just one more. I like hearing something different infused with great vocals/instrumentals. 'Killer Queen' and 'Fat Bottomed Girls' are a refreshing change of pace. The 'Love of My Life' duet is their greatest IMO.
Music taste is like most other preferences (including Star Wars characters), in that it is completely subjective. I prefer my music to minimize the outlandish and bizarre, and keep the theatrics in check. Journey is as guilty as any other band of hamming it up on occasion, and it's those songs that I usually skip.
Hmm, I look for the opposite, where outlandish and bizarre piques my interest more than the standard tried-and-true. Same-old sound is repetitive to my ears--it's why so many of the 60's bands fall flat. I think everyone was jumping on the Rock bandwagon, but lack of experience just churned out a plethora of albums that followed a very simple, boring formula. A few shone through, but for the most part, I'd put the 60's down as the most... dull era of modern music. Thank God for the 70's.
I don't know if you're familiar with Toto, but you should give them a try. They're probably my second favorite band, their sound is a composite of Rush and Journey. Bobby Kimball is a spectacular singer (he's pretty good even in his mid-60s) and Steve Lukather is one of the most skilled rock guitarists alive.

Really well spoken Conservative lawyer defends his Prop-8 case on FOX news. It's interesting because the host really wants to paint the lawyer as a liberal--you can see him pull back from general liberal bashing several times. Those kinds of accusations don't work, though, because this is the lawyer who won Bush v Gore.

Neph, can you shed any light on the separation of Church and State in England? That is, is there one?
Nope!
That is, I can't shed light on that.
