I've never understood nostalgia for the good 'ol days. Especially in the entertainment industry. It's like there are rose colored glasses when viewing everything pre-1995 that trick us in to thinking that there wasn't tons of shit music that we had to sift through over decades in order to focus on the gems today. Today's music is relatively tame, but I've heard enough to know that there's a lot of quality songs/bands out there.
