Well one of the main things about the show Dexter is how much I relate to the main character... except the serial killing part.He thinks like I do, comes to decisions like I do, interperets human interaction like I do. etc etc.
Not that I'm saying you're a pretentious dweeb...

oh I know, I've seen it.
I'll probably need to work out and get some combat training before I start killing people though.
I recently read the first book and it's quite a bit different than the show. So much so that I'm wondering if past the second book there is anything the show and books share in common beside the main character.
No, not really.
Spoiler:
Its more supernatural with Dexters Dark Passenger being some kind of evil spirit and theres a sub-plot with Cody and Astor being budding serial killers because of the times their father would beat them and then rape their mother. Also Deb knows Dexters a serial killer and shes in a serious relationship with that FBI guy. And Doakes doesn't die but he gets mutilated and speaks like Darth Vader with a voice box thing and a claw hand.
Its not as good as the show to be honest.
Plagius spoilers.
Spoiler:
The story opens with Darth Tenebrous dying, having just been killed by Darth Plageuis. We immediately go into Tenebrous’ mind, where he is remembering his whole evil plan.
Tenebrous uses the force to heighten his logical ***** abilities, then analytically uses math and stuff to predict the future.
He predicts that a “great darkness” will fall on the universe, and that time will be told in terms of distance from this dark event. This darkness will destroy both the Jedi and the Sith- later, the “One Sith” will arrive, ruled by a Sith lord so powerful that he need not fear any number of apprentices, or the Jedi. He has read about the Chosen One in the Journal of the Whils, who will be “born of pure force”.
Tenebrous also predicts that he’s going to die before the Chosen One is born. Tenebrous’ plan was to engineer a virus that turns his medichlorians into maxichlorians, then use his maxichlorians to possess Darth Plageuis, wait until the Chosen One is created, then possess the Chosen One, ultimately ruling the galaxy. Plageuis means “diseased one” – referring to the virus Tenebrous planned to infect him with. He knew Plageuis liked to observe his victim’s medichlorians as they died, and was going to use this to be able to possess him- he trained Darth Plageuis to do just that.
As Tenebrous enters Plageuis’ brain, he realizes that Plageuis is much more powerful than he had thought. He also realizes that his manipulations of his maxi-chlorians, which had destroyed Tenebrous’ ability to predict the future, would do the same to Plageuis. It seems to flash forward to Plageuis’ own death a the hands of Palpatine – the “shadow” – then ends with Tenebrous wondering if he had experienced this before, a million times, a billion times- and if this is what his afterlife would be like after all.
I think that this could potentially be a description of Chaos. I’m not sure if Palpatine is the darkness Tenebrous foresaw. By the logic of the dating, it sounds almost like it meant the Battle of Yavin…the death star? I think it makes more sense if the darkness is Palpatine.
So does that mean Krayt is uber powerful? Also, maxichlorians? Seriously? Midi and maxi? That's what they're coming up with now? Furthermore, it does seem that Bane's sith get more and more powerful with each new sith lord.. I wonder how much more powerful that makes Tenebrous, Plagueis, and Sidious in regards to Palpatine.
Edit: I don't like the name Darth Tenebrous because Tenebrae has already been used.
Double Edit: I'm guessing the 'darkness' isn't a sith, it's abeloth.

That's very... very poor. Are you sure this wasn't written by GL instead of Luceno?

Stover actually, since it's a tie in short story for the novel. I do know that GL has been working closely with the writers though.
LucasArts is becoming a producer of lots of terrible ideas.
