My god, the guys on the Jedi Council Forums complained for 5 pages about the color of Boba Fetts wristgaurd and the sound of Jango's blaster!Ush, if we ever get than nerdy, nuke the forum. Just put us out of our misery.
I'm fairly certain that we've established that we're nuke-proof. 😬
Anyway, Boba's wristguard has always bothered me; the color scheme suggests durasteel instead of the canonical flexiplast. x.X

The Matrix is a fantastic movie. Those top 3 are pretty much neck and neck imo. Gladiator I may rethink, but I still like it. Scream is criminally underrated and I love it and Crouching Tiger is a guilty pleasure. LotR may be the better movie but I enjoyed Tiger more.
I used to rank Gladiator quite high in my own list. But after watching it again for the first time in a few years, considering the criticisms I've heard... my opinion of it lowered. I'd put Kingdom of Heaven, Troy, or Alexander above it now--you know, they're all "historic sand movies".
Kinda the same with the Matrix. I don't think it's aging well. And I should have said "Crouching Tiger over Hero?" I saw Hero first and Tiger was just boring by comparison.
I disagree with that. The Matrix is one of those movies I always watch when its on. Ithink its aged really well. Theres no point when the CGI makes me cringe and I like the outfits even if they're over the top and laem.
Crouching Tiger is nostalgia and that girl on girl fight. They seriously go at it. I also love the teashop fight. Plus I dislike the romance subplot of Hero.
I used to really enjoy the Matrix when I was younger, but every subsequent viewing just knocks it down a peg each time. The camera work and the fighting choreography is pretty cool, but that's about it. The characters are boring, lifeless, and bland (excepting Smith), and the story is Philosophy 101 " what a mindf*ck hur hur". Actually, screw the story, it's just the characters. They suck.
The Hero romance is a bit much, but it's the quadruple storytelling (and the fight scenes) that I like. Under closer scrutiny it doesn't hold a candle to Red Cliff.
Director's Cut is indeed supreme. I also like historic fiction. I heavily suggest Ironclad and Centurion for those of you blessed enough to have Netflix.
As for eastern movies, Fearless I can truly agree on. Good storytelling. Even with subtitles, very emotive and strong. Not Oscar material, but well worth the view.

^ This. The first Matrix was unique and came at a good time (the last great cyberpunk anything was Shadowrun or Neuromancer), but ultimately a fantasy film to satisfy the inner geek. The second and third movies totally undermined whatever intelligence we thought the Wachowski brothers had and ruined the franchise.
