If you're getting physically abused by a stronger opponent or multiple opponents, how is that easier to deal with than someone insulting you through facebook or twitter or making dirty comments about you?
Reading might help you above.
Physical pain is rarely lasting, and is more likely to cause parental/teacher/official intervention. My point was clearly indicating that a child's (especially a male child's) often inability to come forth about abuse or perhaps shame/guilt etc preventing it may make certain types of abuse more persistent and therefore worse in the long term.
Just because you have a thick skin doesn't mean it's the norm. Hell, I didn't have a bullying problem when I grew up. That doesn't make me insensitive to others who may not have the same mental fortitude and/or support structure to help them. Some may not have role models or clear life goals to keep them on-target.
You seem to be assuming all kids are blank slates, and those who don't toughen up are just choosing to be weak. It's an assertion so ridiculous I shouldn't have to point it out to you.
And advocating the idea of "burn them!" implies the same lack of understanding.
This is a strawman. My point was that verbal and psychological bullying can be potentially worse for children than physical. It was not an absolute, and it did not call for righteous judgment on all parties, etc.
Also, complaining about the "new sissy generation" as being somehow different from yours and worse is being awful selective with your memory. Teen suicide due to bullying, Columbine, etc. were arguably yours/my generation. White-washing the past and then holding up the future as degenerate is a ploy bested used by politicians, old conservatives, and criminal defense lawyers.

[/B]I'm glad you brought up a single instance as some kind of proof to your argument. Unfortunately, there's no selective memory because there wasn't ridiculous coverage or a specific agenda by the media in this regard and I DO remember us dealing with our issues differently than today. No internet, no twitter, nothing but fists. Also, if you're going to make that amusing quip about politicians and conservatives, i'll use the one where the liberals equate change to progress.
