Kojima Productions is where all the greatest voice actors meet up for tea and biscuits.

David Hayter, John Cygan, Richard Doyle, Cam Clarke, Patric Zimmerman, and Jennifer Hale FTW

Erm, no. Not even close.

If you're looking for best female voice actress, it's probably Tara Strong or Grey deLisle. As for male, Mark Meer makes an awesome Shep, but overall the best I've seen is Simon Templeton. Euan Morton's male Sith Inquisitor is a second best.

The Legacy of Kain series had the best voice acting in a video game, bar none.

Don't know em.

Voice actor for Shephard is completely... underwhelming. Seriously I love Mass Effect but if there was one bland thing about it it was Shephard and his boring dialogue.

but overall the best I've seen is Simon Templeton.

He's def up there but imo something I;ve noticed with a lot of Americans is that they get more easily drawn to British accent. As someone who works in "the biz" and is sued to all sorts of voices his british wizardry has no effect on me. He';s still up there, but nobody including him touches David Hayter as Snake.

I'm a fan but in anything storyline or cinema related MGS reigns supreme with ease. Best voice acting, best music, best writing, best cinematography, best characters, best action scenes, best everything.

Not much of a gamer, I just love the Legacy of Kain series. Great story, great voice acting, great cinematics, but definitely iffy gameplay.

David Hayder voices the Male Jedi Knight in TOR btw.

Yeah it's definitely a cool series. Arguably my second favorite actually, a lot of people actually refer to it as the MGS of dungeon crawlers.

Did you ever play the first in the series? I'd actually played all of them but the first and so I recently purchased it off of the Playstation Store and for the life of me I could not get into it. I think from now on anything that old and dated and I'm just going to watch a youtube playthrough.

BTW if you're ever looking to get into something I couldn't recommend the MGS series more. Its a series I think everyone, even non-gamers, should experience in their lifetime. I honestly think it's more epic then stuff like the Star Wars Trilogies and Lord of the Rings, and Metal Gear is imo one of the most horrifying weapons ever conceived.

Hmm interesting, Did not know that. I've noticed that a lot of voice actors that have worked on the MGS series have also worked on Bioware games. One of my favorites was the guy who voiced Solidus Snake in MGS2, who also voiced Canderous in the KotOR games.

I, for one, found male!Shepard's voice to be stupid. It didn't have to be epic in the traditional English gothic horror way (i.e. Templeton, Jay, et al.) but I found him largely flat.

The only way to describe Metal Gear Solid is as a combination of incredible movie like production mixed with the kind of ideas and scope you'd expect from innovative science fiction and war literature, put into game form where Hideo Kojima experiments and plays around with the ways games can communicate to the player at his leisure.

Honestly just check out the intro to MGS4 for example. What other game series even touches the cinematic feel of the MGS series?

Yep not sure I can agree with Stealth one bit there.

1. You should use Google to educate yourself on Tara Strong and Grey DeLisle. Or you know, just in general.

2. Simon Templeton's voice overs in the Kain series were top-notch, especially in the first game. The cynical overtone and dark sense of humor made a Zelda clone with vampires into an incredibly awesome gaming experience. Having perhaps one of the best made storylines overall too (as a series) didn't hurt.

3. Disagree on Shep. While he grew into the role better by ME3 (the presentation as a whole was powerful in that game), Hale just seems so ... I don't know. Inappropriately angry at times? Horribly off-key? Like a tough girl trying too much to be a hardass? The best voice over from Hale was unfortunately Bastila, and that's because Bastila had an accent that wasn't Canadian/American and she was fiesty rather than the kind of butch angry as you might find from a female mechanic.

Sorry if that's construed as sexist. I'm actually quite for strong female protagonists, but they don't have to sound like they have Adam's apples or are trying to ape hardasses of the opposite gender. Last I checked being feminine and badass are not mutually exclusive. I realize Fem-Shep is a soldier, and there's some merit on that grounds but... I just can't finish a single Fem-Shep playthrough without absolutely hating her dialogue.

4. Sith Inquisitor had some of the most enjoyable lines in TOR -because- of the voice actor. He's like the only guy who can say "I'm giddy with anticipation" and you immediately picture lightning shooting from his hands, not a panel-van creeping along slowly beside a playground.

I haven't even heard what FemShep even sounds like for the record I only ever played as the canon male version.

lol stop being a Hayter and just admit that her best work is from the MGS games as Naomi Hunter.

Eh? Arguing from ignorance again?

Also, I've played MGS 1 and 2. I'm aware of the voice quality. If you think Hayter is good, then Snake Plissken must be your god.

Music started playing on the computer and I was like, "WTF?" Its that video up there.

Today, I realized that Gencon is a little over a month away. I am HAPPY.

Yeah, that auto-playing embedded video really pisses me off.
