What they missed was that the people playing it because it was a Bioware Star Wars game didn't care about it being an MMO and didn't want to pay a fee.
So what did they do? They paid the fee because they had to, but only until they finished a couple of storylines, probably one Light and one Dark. After that, there's a lot of repetition involved- so they cancelled, having got what they were after.
That left the hardcore MMO crowd- but TOR wasn't particularly new or thrilling as an MMO game. So that didn't pull in huge numbers either, and the social side was made worse by the early problems they had with sparse servers.
The whole 'story as the fourth pillar' idea was at worst completely wrong and at best badly implemented. Story wasn't integrated into the MMO style- it was kind of force-jammed into it. We have a single player game badly overlaid on an MMO model. That's not the way on at all.

Basically, it's a well-written Snape/Hermione mentorship fic, with the added bonus of Lily PotterEvans cross-sorted into Slytherin.
There are things like consequences and characterizations that don't simply obey the plot. And it's not even all that long.
Full endorsement: If you're going to be reading fanfiction, why not read this good fanfiction?

Indeed.I mean, why read that, when I could read fanfiction of, say, Magnus the Red?
Because there isn't any Magus fanfiction?
Anyway Snape/Hermoine is lame.

That's what I thought! But they end up having like 6 scenes together. Instead, that's the premise for how she can be friends with a Slytherin-sorted Lily Evans (whom she Necromanced) who makes a(n admittedly Sue-ish) attempt to redeem the house.
Originally posted by ZampanóIIRC, it actually does not. Traps can be set to auto-reset, and they can cast a spell (ala the infamous Self-Resetting Maximized Fireball trap at CL 20 (when TPK really needs to happen that very instant)) So straight from there, Wish can be put onto "traps" that are triggered to do whatever.
Tippyverse requires a non-standard reading of the rules of traps*, and a total disregard for any sort of sociology or characterization. Plus, it destroys any reason for adventurers at all.*I read this on the GitP forum within the last six weeks, but idk if I'll be able to find the post again.
Pfft, screw characterization and sociology, you have invincible God-Wizard-Kings keeping you safe, war is impractical due to the ease of it (its a M.A.D. scenario, armeis teleporting in, slaughtering the cities, then killing eachother) and there is so much magical crap, you toilet paper will be magical.
Oh, and who needs to adventure? We all just want to sit around and do real-estate.
No really, my group had a low-turnout one day, and after having killed a dragon (and taking the bile) we found out just how much dragon bile was worth in 4e. Around a quarter million a dose (an ounce or so) and we had two jars of it. So we sell it to the local assassins guild, (at a reduced price to be nice to the DM (we still walked out with around 200k at level 3)) and we go and look for real-estate to get a good amount of income. After about 3 hours of getting prices for stuff, talking to people, and other monotonous stuff, we ended up establishing an income of 50k a month.
And we enjoyed doing that. Real-estate for three hours
