Jess, you're deluded if you think that the Zimmerman case shows a liberal media bias. It might show a proclivity to sensationalize race relations, but calling that a partisan issue rather misses the mark.
In what way is it not a partisan issue? The entire case was a contest between two different narratives: one of a helpless, frail young black man being ruthlessly gunned down by a seedy bigot vs. a shady young black man being killed in self-defense by an over-cautious member of the neighborhood watch. Each narrative has been largely sponsored by the two dominant political aggregates in the nation.
As it turns out, while both sides naturally bend and shade, the liberal one was revealed to be the less accurate account. This is inarguably a partisan issue and speaks to relevant political topics that are inherently partisan: the role of race relations, racial profiling, gun rights, self-defense laws, and the role of community organizations such as the neighborhood watch in law enforcement.
