The Battle Bar, Our Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy

Pretty hard action. Not really much of an RPG.

Modding a is lame way to judge a game. Any game can be good if you add a thousand things to it. I thought you were referring to the actual games, not Nude Ahsoka Mod 2.5 edition. I'll grant you the different saber styles, but meh.

Having a stick up your patoot mo like.

But I have played and enjoyed similar games before, like Castlevania titles, Dark Forces, etc. It's not the genre; it's really the total package.

Well, it does impact the experience. Which is superior: console version of KotOR or PC moddable version? The PC one, for the obvious reason. Saying I shouldn't judge it on the availability to expand the enjoyability factor is being incredibly selective.

You're just mad because I don't like the game and I think it's lame.

TFU2 gets mega points for returning Vader to the place of Magnificent Bastardry and badassery.

Hard action sounds like a gay prison parody.

TFU is a hack n slash, belonging to the same vein of games as Devil May Cry, God of War and Darksiders. If you don't like any of those then you prolly wouldn't like TFU either.

Not defending TFU doe. Game bored the shit out of me an hour in.

Who takes orders from Tarkin later on.

DMC had that atmosphere and demonic thing going on, which was fun. God of War never caught my interest. Haven't played Darksiders. Hack and slash can be rewarding, but the atmosphere or immersion has to be good.

Well action games don't focus on customisation. They focus on..... action. Edit: Yes, hack n slash. Thank you Blax. I love you. Get in my car.

They're both as good as each other. Since they're the same game. Its just that one has access to modding. I don't see how that's representative of the games quality.

Yes. Thats right.

Which makes Tarkin all the more impressive. Besides, the only reason he didn't squash the Grand Moff was Palpatine.

And everyone takes orders from Palpatine.

Vader was cool in the first one too. That first level where you play as him was ****ing sweet.

The revelation that Sidious was behind everything in the first game really took the wind out of Vader's sails, though.

In TFU2, though, he's a lone agent. An independent operator. Vader was there to kick ass and chew bubble gum... and I'll be damned if he didn't have any gum.

LOL. Are you serious?

A < B
Therefore, A = B

TFU's lack of customization isn't a necessity for it to be a decent game, but it was a nitpick at an otherwise bland game with a story I didn't care about. Again, the total package is what's important here, not each facet on its own. JA's storyline was kinda eh, but at least you could make your own guy, and the multi-player and moddability gave it tons of replay value. I can still play JA and have fun; TFU does not have this draw for me.

True. But Tarkin is incredibly awesome.

Tarkin's great, indeed.

Actually the Death Star novel makes it clear that Tarkin wasn't really in control of Vader as the movie made it seem, and as Temp said, it was mostly because of Palpatine. IIRC, the novel implied that Tarkin actually feared Vader to a certain extent, but hid it very well, which Vader had respect for. I believe there were a few times where Vader put Tarkin in his place. IDK, been years since I read it.

I suspect a lot of Vader was changed in EU and such because of his breakout status. Vader also had rage-issues in ANH that he lacked in ESB/ROTJ. He seemed more placid compared to ANH in those films.

Per the original back story, the Emperor was more or less a Nixonian figurehead whose practical authority was usurped by underlings like Tarkin. Originally, Vader nominally deferred to the Emperor but was also subordinate to Tarkin, who really ran the show.

Now, of course, we know the Emperor was manipulating Tarkin and Vader the whole time. With the release of all 6 films and the EU, things were retconned. Tarkin and Vader don't particularly like one another but each respects the other. Between that and Tarkin's position of authority on the Death Star, he felt comfortable barking an order or two at Vader.

Also, Vader's placidity is one of the best things about him in TFU2. Dude had no fear, whatsoever, even when outmatched.

True. Even his voice was different; more high-pitched or something.

These are relevant to my boner.

Dunno. He outright executed two people in ESB.

But he was nice about it.

Lucas's original back story would have been interesting, but of course I'm glad it didn't turn out that way for obvious reasons.
