You absolutely can disengage from having a meaningful relationship with members of your family. You don't want to because you enjoy the things you gain from that meaningful relationship, well then don't but at the very least by choosing to stay in the relationship you are obligated to put something back into the relationship, and that includes taking responsibility for directly influencing the other person's happiness, and this is something that is silently assumed to be the case by default.

If you make it clear that you do not consider it a relationship of fair treatment, I would hardly call it a meaningful relationship and in that case I would say you're not responsible for that other person's happiness and they knew what they were getting into with such a one-sided relationship. Makes you a giant dick though.
