The Battle Bar, Our Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy

Started by FreshestSlice3,287 pages

The problem isn't policing the world. The problem is that we can't decide when we should policing someone else's country, through out the entire government, before finally leaving it in a position where it is in an even worse stat and is barely able to defend itself with shoehorned democracies. It didn't work a 100 years ago, it didn't work 60 years ago, it didn't work 40 years ago. It didn't work 20 years ago. It didn't work 5 years ago. Why continue to do it? We obviously don't know what were doing and we need to stop.

You know what world politics feels like sometimes? Especially in the 20th century? Aggro. Like there has to be someone getting invaded, or fought over, or ruled over with an iron fist, or economically ruined... so why not someone else? The U.S. and the West, but mostly the U.S., lets all the other nations soak up the collective violence inherent to our species, leaving us feeling safe and secure with our power and relative calm.

Like the Purge, except with cross-border ideologies, and every day of the year.

Haha, now what's the deal with ISIS, amirite?!
It'll be back for season 6.

Dave, I do not even remotely believe that enduring the Holocaust somehow entitles Jewish people to a plot of land they crave on the basis of a biblical-era claim. I have so many reasons off the top of my head to find that absolutely and irretrievably absurd.

Part of why I wasn't super interested in having a debate about this with you, by the way, was because I already know where you stand on a lot of these issues, and frankly I've been left aghast at how you've filled in the blanks. There's really nothing more to say about most of it.

If you want to compare stuff we can pin down to fact, there's plenty to see. Lots of long stuff, though. I stand by my assertion that comparing notes should be straightforward, but that doesn't mean it isn't tedious, so I don't plan on getting too invested.

Dave
As for the rest, I'll address it tomorrow, it's getting late.

If you must.

It'll be back for season 6.

Important addendum:

YouTube video

ISIS is one of those organizations/groups of people that you could gun down on the street, and it would be an event worthy of joyous celebration. It's like in Monkey Dust, when the Pedofinder General kills a pedophile, and people on the street start clapping their hands and cheering.

Not a fan of Archer, I take it?

I adore it, just fake-appalled at Lucien's repartee.

Also, AnnaSophia Robb and Hillary Duff might currently the best white Hollywood booty on my mind. Robb Starkespecially.

edit: srsly, I thought Bridge to Terabithia came out like yesterday, but BLAM there she is.

/degradation. I'm sorry.

Reading that this morning with a clear head sounds retarded, I apologize and retract that statement. But my other points stand. I believe they were concise and objective. Nothing else was remotely absurd.

If you can convince me how exactly a two state solution will cause peace, despite over 60 years of hostility and threats of extermination, I'd be willing to listen. I just doubt you could prove that on any level. I also maybe need some clarification about the last part because I doubt you'd go as far to say that Hamas is doing what it's doing simply because they're pushed in a corner.

DAMN this looks good.

Rose-tinted nostalgic elitism?

This is a joke right?

It has to be.

I can't imagine there are any Human beings unintelligent enough to have such an opinion while still possessing the skills needed to use a computer.

I was a teenager during that emo punk era, trust me that's as bad as Bieber. Those bands were so so awful.

As was I. I can't say I miss hearing Sum 41, Blink, and Green day dominate the radio. Good riddance to those shit bands.

Oh sure, I liked a few songs from all of those bands, including Simple Plan. But I knew they were shit. The late 90s were a good time. I prefer the 60s.

The Monkees are a national treasure.

Christ, I've been a member here for like, ten years now.

When I registered at KMC, ROTS was brand new, KOTOR 2 had only come out a few months before, and the most popular thread was Revan vs Vader.

I'm thinking in purely musical terms. But my favorite decades were roaring 20s, post war 50s, and 60s. Everything else is shit. And the Monkees were awesome.
