You're weird.

I'm watching Bill Nye's debate with Ken Ham. Lol. Come on man.

I know. Being normal is boring and mainstream. 😎

I watched Grave of the Fireflies today.

Man of Steel left me far more empty.

Oh, MoS left me empty too.

Probably a different kind of empty, though.

So who else is afraid of the coming robot-induced mass unemployment?

This was cool! The line that stuck out for me was that "there's little work that a horse can do to pay for its housing and hay." This is the sort of assumption that gets societies in trouble; why assume that we are still going to need to pay for our housing and food? While there will always be inequalities in distribution and quality of some limited resources (like nice climates) it seems possible that we could guarantee every citizen of earth an arbitrarily high quality of life based on the fruits of this mass-automation.

There's no reason to let a person starve (or suffer much at all) in the futuristic productive world painted by the video

Zamp that sounds an awful lot like socialism, there. You know how we feel about that in these necks of the wood.

That's because you're one of them.

We'll probably all be old enough to retire by the time robots become advanced and easy enough to manufacture in those quantities for all that to happen.

That's what the horses said!

Horses only live to age 30, so they were probably right!

Socialism assumes scarce resources. If the resources are neverending, it becomes a utopia. Or in this case, the terminator future run by our robot overlords.

Xcom would be a good one imo.

I've already said that after someone else already said that in another thread.

Are you suggesting that the Star Forge is in our future?
