I'm not saying these guys are saints -- if you paid me millions of dollars to kick a ball around I'd happily donate a lot of it to charity too. It's just nice to be reminded that athletes as a whole lean toward donating to charitable causes rather than donating to domestic abuse statistics. Now, you could argue that athletes should get paid less and more money should go toward making life-saving surgery affordable for everyday people, and I would completely agree with you. But I also want a unicorn that blows me. Get real.

A tj? I've always disliked Maher and his "religulous" bullshit. It doesn't seem that he knows much about Christianity and Judaism to claim that religion is bullshit. However, he seems to have at least somewhat of a grasp on Islam and at the very least, more than Affleck. So I was sticking with the lesser of two evils.

Simple enough to dismiss them both.

Why dismiss both when one has merit over the other?

If the United States wants a military coalition in the Middle East, it will have to lead it. If it wants to actually win, it will have to fight on the ground.

It's hardly BS. In the 70s, Saudi Arabia was as progressive in its treatment of women as anywhere. It was still an Islamic majority country.

Instead of blaming Islam (which hasn't really changed much in a single generation) we need to blame the actual determinants of violence: Poverty, scarcity, etc.

I'm not saying his message is BS but rather some of the facts that he brings up (or at least twistings of the truth).

For example his claim that in "Indonesia, women are absolutely 100 percent equal to men" seems to be false after a quick google search.

Well, to be fair, that's not even true in the united states, so depending on how stringently literal you'd like to view his claims, that is hardly a damning critique of this guy's position
