This goes for all of you except me.

Did you know that, up until fairly recently, Generation X was considered the most lazy and unfocused generation in the 20th-21st century?

Movies such as the Breakfast Club, Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Slacker were all created as reflections of the lost, unmotivated youth that dominated 80's culture.

Shut up homo

Don't tell me what to do, you're not my real dad.

Just establishing the irony.

I don't see how it's different than today's Jersey Shore being lauded.

20 years from now, my generation is going to be old and freaking out about how "entitled" and "unambitious" the Y-generation is, writing articles glorifying the gumption and focus of the Millennial generation.

edit- I'd also like to point out that according to MTV, Jersey Shore's "core demographic" ranged from 13-34, so you're just as culpable for that shit sandwich as I am, boyo.

Doesn't matter, I didn't watch it. And I don't think my generation was anything special, I think the baby boomers were and WWII generation were.

I think world events had a lot more to do with why the pre-GenX generations accomplished what they did then any sort of inherent superiority of their society and mindset. It's no coincidence that one of the fastest advancements in human civilization was immediately proceeded by the two most destructive wars in human history.

I have to believe there's some kind of positive correlation between technological innovation and increased entitlement/bitchy attitude.

Nebraska Lawmakers Vote to Abolish Death Penalty

yes. good. (I don't actually want to argue this point again with u dave, but I'm very proud of my state and happy that this is happening.)

((My law philosophy final was about the death penalty and i can't believe I didn't know the issue was being voted on while writing it! whoops ))

Eh. I care more about having to feed people for the rest of their lives than ending them prematurely and hypocritically.

Good for them. Being wrong is ok as long as you can sleep at night. According to the article, there will be a veto. Should be a rumble!

This is definitely part of it. I haven't heard many arguments against the death penalty other than "it's wrong!", "it's barbaric", or the classic tautology of "two wrongs don't make a right". As long as the death penalty exists in the majority of the country, I'm bueno.

I hope she's played Skyrim. Her every conversation would begin and end with Fus Roh Dah.

Damn that's pretty horrifying.
