Think of it this way: your character in Skyrim is like you in the real-world: you kind of just go through it and face whatever obstacle is in the way, only rarely looking at the bigger picture. What you see in Skyrim is literally how a mortal comprehends it, as opposed to what it actually is. Planets are Gods and God Planes (which are the same thing,) which are infinite. However for we mortals, they're merely perceived as finite spheres. There's alot more, but meh, what the hell.
