Spanish Inquisition? lmao. And that's not what I said, what I said in short is that not calling out people on this stuff is to say its OK, you are endorsing what they are doing. Simple.
No, I'm not endorsing being an *******, despite being one. Obviously calling someone out is fine. Being hurt by words is something we're told not to do in diapers. If the lesson hasn't sunk in by 16-17, it'll never sink in.
Which is fair, but again this isn't about people being oversensitive, or people needing to "grow up", this is informing people that certain kinds of behaviour is unacceptable.
"You're gross for being gay,' is exactly the same as lynching. I mean, I don't see why you'd even respond like this otherwise. Frankly, I think gay things are gross. It's not right to make fun of people for it, but that doesn't change it making me uncomfortable. Most sexual things that don't involve me are uncomfortable to me for good reason. The fact that someone points this out, shouldn't stop you from being you. So yeah, grow up.
I don't see what's immature about finding homophobic harrassment unacceptable, whether or not they hurt about it being again besides the point. That person would still have a right to say that's wrong, and have those people punished.
The fact that you think someone should be punished for calling someone else gross is actually a lot more sad than the fact that homophobia exists. This opinion is pretty gross actually. Go grab your pitch fork and torches and fly over to America to put me in my place, because I stand by mine, and obviously it's wrong.
