The difference is that Islam inherits both existing holy books (bible/torah) and creates it's own. The only question is whether or not the Quran is more aggressive than the other two, and the answer is yes - it is far more zelous, repetitive and aggressive than it's predecessors. It's written in a stream of consciousness style without much of an overflowing narrative unlike the Torah/Bible. The closest I can compare the Koran to would be like the Psalms in the Old Testament but without the poetic flair. I can imagine someone reading the Psalms for literary pleasure, not so with the Koran.
