The Battle Bar, Our Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy

My favorite 'good guys' in the show are Harley and Sawyer, mainly because they have a ****ing sense of humor. Kate and Jack are so... serious, my god. To the point of pretentious self-importance and self-seriousness, especially in the case of Jack; this largely makes them intolerable and unlikable. Kate gets a narrow pass for being ridiculously hot, though.

Meh, if I was in their situation I think my humour would go down the pan pretty quickly too. And Sawyer is a jackass, plus he's annoyingly aggressive and just an overall prick, I haven't really laughed at him that much, except when he's done something stupid. Hurley's cool though, gets a bit too crazy later on but is still funny and doesn't get overly emo.

Locke is delusional. Now, so is Harley, but the difference is again with the sense of humor thing. Locke's seriousness regarding his borderline schizophrenic delusions and fantasies simply makes him absurd and laughable.

What!?! Did you not watch the end of season 4 when Locke is proven right and Jack gets *****-slapped by facts. Locke isn't crazy, he just rolls with the punches and understands Island-logic. Everything he does is real and logical. He's awesome. In fact, he's my second fav character. Ben's first.

Well, God doesn't exist and Sayid is just an Iraqi Jack Bauer. No, my opinion has more to do with the intricacies of the Island's relationship to the passing of time and space.

Sayid is God. If I was on the Island, i'd be stuck to him like glue. Safest palce to be.

Lets hear your theory though, I can tell it's gonna be good.

Oh shitez, I've been member for over a year now. wtf.

Allah enjoys Lost. 'Tis great.

Edit: And Valerian, WTF?! I thought you'd been here for at least two years. You amassed half my post count in almost a quarter the time.

Also, Leap Year Baby, you.

Yeah, there was a time when I posted like crazy. Now, I'm a little bit calmer.

I actually enjoyed Lost when I first saw season 1. But I just lost interest because of all the different stupid storylines. They should have made one season and explain everything at the end of it in stead of raising more freaking questions every episode.

I haven't seen it in a long time. Can anyone tell me what happened to the love triangle (Jack, Kate, Sawyer) and if they have already explained what the black foggy psycho thing is.

No, I won't google it.

Spoiler:
Sawyer's stuck on the island, hurtling through time, while Jack and Kate got off and struck up a (sexual) relationship until Jack started having hallucinations and got addicted to his medication. They split because Kate was doing 'errands' for Sawyer off the island.

And the smoke monster hasn't fully been explained yet, but it's so awesome that it doesn't need to be.

The smoke monster is like Yoda then.

Well, Sawyer is aggressive and generally 'rough', but that's part of his appeal. Still, maintaining a sense of fun and humor instead of pretentious self-seriousness makes the characters more appealing.

His anti-heroism is also interesting. Jack is an obnoxiously self-righteous character; Sawyer is more ambiguous, more realistic, and less of a 'morality preacher'.

Locke is delusional. I'm not saying he's necessarily wrong about the island's physics, but his delusions are his dreams of grandeur and blatant self-glorification. You understand, the only genuinely important thing for Locke is to prove himself to be a mythical 'Chosen One'- a messiah-like agent working for the island. But you know what? He isn't special. Instead, his arrogance and desire to be more than just a human being makes him an easily manipulate-able pawn in the hands of more intelligent people, like Ben. He's an almost child-like character, in fact.

Also, Locke's belief that his connection to the island is deeper than anybody else's has caused him to make some absurdly laughable decisions.

Nah. He's just an Iraqi Jack Bauer, again. And he speaks with a funny accent.

Well, it basically goes as such: the mysterious forced contained within the island, is, in fact, the force of time itself. The island exists as a container for a power that drives forth the axis of the time-space continuum; how did it come to be and how exactly does it work? I have no bloody idea.

The island, you understand, is a cage for that force. However, that force needs some sort of sustenance; thus, numerous people are occasionally brought to the island via a field of electromagnetism is generates. The moment these people crash on it, they exist in an almost symbiotic relationship with it- they have to stay on it, in order to 'feed' the island, if you will. This also explains why people have any maladies or unnatural imperfections within them reversed- the island needs them in a state of perfection for them to provide the island the necessary power to exist.

However, the problem is that only a select group of people can be 'fed' upon by the island in any given time; this is why babies cannot be born if they are conceived on the island. It will create a sort of unbalance. This is also why the departure of the Oceanic Six threatens the world's security- they've already had a synonymous relationship with the island; without them, the stability of the way it keeps time and space running is threatened.

It's really flawed and really simple, but that's about it.

Sayid >>>>>>[...]>>>>>> Jack Bauer.

And I bet you speak with a funny accent, too. *****.

I speak with an absolutely phenomenal accent- far better than wannabe Jews in films. Don't insult my beautifully sexy Middle Eastern tone, *******.

Catherine Zeta-Jones has a beautifully sexy tone. Yep.

I watched Zorro again yesterday. Awesome movie, and anyone who says otherwise can have their head stuck in a jar, courtesy of moi.

It's bollocks!sailor

I like Penelope Cruz better, but she's cool.

As a kid, I always tried to pause the undressing scene exactly when her **** are showing. I think that was my first foray into the world of pornography.

The best Catherine Zeta Jones scene is from entrapment. If you have to ask which one, you are clearly a homosexual.

I hadn't seen it, but apparently it's a PG-13. Are you telling me that's the best she's got?

If you saw the scene, you would know.

I just finished reading the book 'Empress' by Karen Miller and I have to say that I LOVED the main character. I'm reading some reviews though and it seems that I'm the only one. Not that I can blame them, the character obviously isn't meant to make your heart warm. Hekat is a psychopathic monster who manipulates all around her, swims in blood (literally), is a total bad-ass and is borderline insane. What I love is that it shows you why she's like that, and it's absolutely understandable. It makes the story from the villians point of view and show's the growth of the evil empire rather that just 'Oh, the evil orcs are rising'. Instead it's 'Holy Sh*t! Hekat's here! Run the f*ck away! The worlds doomed!' It actually rather annoys me that people rag on the book for having a realistic, scary and ultimately human villian. Hekat's by far the most Bad-Ass character in literature.

Anyway, I'm rambling, but I advise you to read this book, keeping in mind that the protagonist is meant to be a total b*tch.

There's also one scene where she rapes a man, which was quite interesting. I found myself chuckling at that point about how much other readers would hate Hekat. I was right.
