ES lore is only really present in books though. I've played all the modern games and never gave a shit about any of the lore because its all so minimal, dry and underplayed. Theres no reason to care about any of it.
The DA games are better than the ES games imo. The problem with the ES games is that they're not actually particularly interesting, theres just a lot of stuff to do in them and they're great at getting you to keep playing. The entire series has maybe 5 good characters in total, most of the plots are pretty boring and the combat kind of sucks. DA has good combat, great characters, great plot and an interesting world with engaging lore.
I'm so much more intrigued by what happened to the ancient elves and dwarves and titans etc than whatever happened to the stupid dwemer its not even a contest. Who cares.
