oh, and i think you give me too much credit. My num. 1 reason for not wanting health care reform is simply i don't think that our government will be able to afford it without raising taxes, and i don't want to pay more taxes.
Did you see my geithner quote that i posted here a few days back?
Its greed. Our government is so deeply in debt it will NEVER get out, and they want us to start paying for health care? How about balancing the budget and paying down the debt, and show a tad bit of fiscal responsibility and THEN try for something like this.
Its inevitable that the money for this thing WILL RUN OUT. (see cash for clunkers, Stimulus package, 3 tries at a bailout, war in Iraq budget) Our government is INCAPABLE of budgeting correctly. They screw it up everytime, and someone, somewhere (generally the taxpayer) gets shafted. I'm sick of it.
There is no question that our economy has weakened since Democrats took over Congress in 2006. Check any numbers that you want. Numbers don't lie in this case. The bailouts infuriated me. The Stimulus infuriated me to a lesser degree. The VERY IDEA of lobbyists in Washington make me so angry i can't see straight. It is very simple, Our government is corrupt. Our government is broken. Republicans, and Dem's both, if they wanted change, if they really wanted to improve things, have BOTH had their opportunities. They have both failed. The only possible explanation is this: They don't want change.
They want us at each others throats. They want Dems voting Democratic, because they are terrified of Republicans winning, and Vice Versa, and we eat it up.
We are given 2 choices to vote for. In 08, i despised both choices. Obama, because he gave long speeches that sounded impressive but said nothing, and McCain because he started every sentence with "my friends".
Now, there is no question that Obama lied several times while campaigning. He said no more lobbyists, and that was a lie, and he said no more taxes on households that make under 250,000 a year, and that was a lie, and he said no more pork. None. That was a lie.
Generally when confronted with these three things, a Democrat will say: "Well, Bush had MORE lobbyists, and Bush cut taxes for rich people, and Bush had MORE pork. (respectively)"
This, my friends (lest we forget McCain) is unacceptable. If you listen to the left, they will have you believe W was the worst president in history. If this is so, how does comparing Obama to Bush help you at all? It shouldn't. Everytime you draw that sort of comparison, by your own admission you make Obama closer to the worst president of all time.
In my mind, clearly, both sides are incompetent and corrupt. I don't really know what to suggest to change it, but i've seen enough politics to know it isn't going to happen when every single congressman, senator and executive branch member is a millionaire. Whose interest are they therefore looking out for? Millionaires, simply put.
Somethings got to change. Any ideas?
